pink is only like one 'basic' colour away from yellow. Put orange in the middle.. now does it match? they're all warm tones... so in an artistically inclined world, they match. In fashion... they also match. Then again almost anything can be worked as "matching" in that world.
Purple and Yellow is another odd combination, and apparently they match or else the Lakers would not use those colours for their team.

Funny you say "real world". I have my own house. I have a nice job with weekends off. I go in at 7:45am and get off at 4pm M-F. I have my own cars.
