Default Home-Made Black Housing Headlights

Here are a few pictures of my stock headlights with the housings painted black. This was done by hacking apart the headlights according to Milkit18's how-to found here: How-To: Hack & Paint Stock Headlight Housings

I separated the headlight lense with a dremel tool and cutting wheel. Then I masked off the reflectors and sprayed high-temp black paint. The lights were then re-assembled using "plastic weld" glue and silicone. So far, no leaks after some heavy rain

Great how-to with nice results.

or maybe hes retarded and is seeing the gap between the inside of the headlight and the housing, where the headlight itself adjusts, and doesnt realize that gap is supposed to be there...or I do see on the side where the clouds are reflecting on it.

btw looks awesome!

This actually isn't difficult, however if it's your only set of headlights, you will want to take your time and be careful. I did this mod over 2 days, but it definately could be done in 1 day.

I've got a couple of tips for those of you who want to try this:

- Read the thread linked in the first post

- Use a dremel with a larger cutting wheel; I think my wheel was about 40mm diameter

- I did not dis-assemble the internal housing, I just masked off the reflectors. I think this is the best way.

- Buy a couple of the tubes of "plastic weld" mentioned in the how-to thread. This stuff works great.

- When re-assembling the headlight, get the lens into position first, then apply the plastic weld to a couple of points around the lens just to secure it. Once the glue sets, then you can use a generous amount of the plastic-weld to fill in the gap all around. After that, I applied some silicone just to be safe. Don't bother with the expanding foam.
