Tell me about it! ^ buddy said he had to hot tank it (or whatever they do to it to clean it) 3 times.

Updated pic....just have to pull the crank pulley and hang the T-belt...serp belt and alternator belt....then a few other odds and ends...tighten VC, hang the turbo and re-route my rac lines...hook up exhaust.

Time to start tearing it down again. Fuuuuuu!

Anyone know if I can just replace the seal without taking the cam completly out? I'm thinking I could just loosen the t-belt tensioner, pop the cam gear off and the 1st cam cap....?

No need to remove the cam. In fact, you're supposed to install the cam seal with the cam installed, and the cam caps in place! You shouldn't even need to remove the cam cap to take the old ones out.

Get a hook set, something along these lines:

Use those to get the cam seal out. Just make sure you don't gouge the cam seal bore.

Taken straight from the FSM:
NOTE: Bearing end caps must be installed before seals can be installed.

Install camshaft seals into cylinder head until flush with head.

Don't push them in further than flush!
