i'd move the dandelion a tad off center. You got the sat or contrast too high. is it ok on your monitor??
Contrast may be a bit to high, I usually tend to be someone who likes contrast it seems. The saturation seems fine to me.. I bumped the yellow up some and the greens up.. but not a whole lot.
here's the original.

i notice you dont do sequential file numbering and use it as an odometer on # of total shutter releases on camera.
also your setting can get two files on your computer with same file name ie.. DCS_014.
Is that by design?
I'm not real sure what you're asking.. lol. I use Lightroom to import everything in.. Which goes to a folder, and then when i edit then.. and export it to another folder.. it is saved with the date, then the original file name.
As for it being over exposed... Why do you think that? I actually thought it was right.. Ugh. Even the light meter on my camera said it was right.. atleast i believe it did. *shrugs*. Kinda frustrates me..

i'm just saying your file name is DCS_0014 for the dandelion. so that tells me you got your camera settings set to reset the file numbering back to zero everytime you pop a card in. I'd rather have it count up and never reset. Like mileage, i know i have 6500 and some shots on my coolpix 990, 8000 shots on my D70 and 2000 shots on my D300. And file names are never duplicated on my computer. just something to think about and nice to know when you sell it. u very well may like it like that. no biggie and sorry about the confusion.
not that you every keep your cam that long but i *think* the D40 is prolly good for only 100k shutter releases.
as far as over exposure, the dandelion is too washed out. check your settings on your cam. that pic is a little off and it could very well be just that pic. you may have +exposure comp on or contrast or sat pumped up a little in camera w/o knowing it, iso higher than expected etc. or just a fluke. whatever. lets move on
