I know it's not the AF-S but come on, the new 70-200 2.8 AF-S VR is 1750 I want the 80-200mm 2.8 and the new 24-70mm 2.8 AF-S and I think I'll be done! I don't need a super wide so a 50mm 1.8, 24-70mm AF-S 2.8 and 80-200 2.8 should be good!
*EDIT* I just went through your Flick and that lens is super sharp @ 2.8, do you have any shots @ 5.6+? thanks!

The AF is pretty quick, the torque of those rotating front elements is pretty strong when it gets moving and sometimes it overshoots and has to go back a little, but unless you're doing sports it isn't a huge deal and its even pretty good with sports if you use the limit mode.
I don't think I have any 5.6+ handy, but I could take some sample shots for you tomorrow after class....
Edit: Oh yeah, nice to see you back Chris. Stop caring about some people liking the D300 as much as you love your 5D?
