yea that's a different product. the stuff the OP posted already has adhesive as part of the material and is vinyl based/backed. so it acts more like a wrap or sticker. this pyspeed stuff is a fabric, so you have to treat it just like any other fabric for install. even says in one of their DIY's...
Quote:
3M Super 77 or 74 Spray can glue (Home Depot or any hardware store)
if you want to "wrap" it around something.
basically you'd use each type in different situations... the drycarbonwrap seeems most appropriate for wrapping items and/or surfaces that can be adhered to and are of a complex/compound shape. basically hard items. the pyspeed stuff is a fabric so more appropriate for places you'd use fabric... door panels, seats, headliners. basically soft items.
I have tha in my car
I did the door panel inserts in it but it is just that its vinyl
Why would anyone wrap a hood or roof or any exterior part for taht matter in vinyl???
I'm gonna be getting a full wrap on my Grand Cherokee for a Gumball event this winter
I was just about to post that the pyspeed stuff is completely different. Its just a fabric that needs applied like any other vinyl fabric. It becomes a burden if you aren't too familiar with it.
If you search for the OPs stuff on ebay you can find it much cheaper than the drycarbonwrap.com website. I think it starts around $30 a linear foot instead of $65. The discounts aren't as deep if you buy massive bulk though.
The stuff will hold just fine on hoods. Once its been applied and activated it sets and cures. Since CF hoods aren't allowed on cars in Germany they've been using this stuff for years to simulate CF. My buddy had a bunch in his 300 wagon but he wrecked it before i could see how well it held up.
And I'd like to remind you that since none of these companies are vendors on this site, talking about a group buy will do nothing more than get this thread shut down.....
good point.
please people, if you're talking about group buys for non-supporting vendors, PLEASE remove such comments from your posts. this thread is useful and I'd hate to see it get clobbered.
@Max: If you need i can buy it here in Berlin at my friends vinyl-shop.
BUT: It does NOT look like real carbon fiber. It looks better that the cheap printed carbon-fake-vinyl but it is far away from the "original" carbon fiber.
Maybe if you paint it with gel-coat it could look somehow "real" but - ummmmm - i would NEVER use that for my car.
You can see on first seight that it is plastic and nothing else.
Take real carbon or nothing!
