I just switched us from Comcast cable to Direct tv. Reason being

They are Doing FREE installation on all parts and free hardware.

Comcast
--------
30 channels of HD
100 hour DVR box
720P High def
around 120 channels

89.99 a month

Direct tv
--------
130 channels of HD
400 Hour DVR
1080P High def
250 channels

50 a month for 5 months then 81 after

I was signed up through Best buy. When we were looking for a bedroom tv. just a nice 26 inch one for the bedroom. We already have a 42 inch 1080P LG one in the living room.

In this promotion I get a 50$ best buy card mailed to me and 100$ off a TV long as its 499 or over

Only thing is internet I plan to keep comcast for that and only pay the 20$ a month for the 2M they offer

Does it seem like a better deal?? It does to me but I wanna make sure lol

i got rid of cable, i can get any show with little to no comercials on the net in HD (480p) and i can get any movie new or old free too (any episode any time) i can even do the season if i wanted....internet>cable/sat

the cable/satalite TV is a total rip, nothing but pure profit for them...they better catch up with the times

480p isn't HD by any stretch of the imagination, but yeah I go the internet route also.

PlayOn is the best $40 you will ever spend for software if you dont like paying $90/month for cable

boy sounds like your scared to get off your wallet...come on man, do yo feel better about yourself getting free things on the internet? 480p? And i dont think people are impressed you can get everything for free...the reason its free is cause it looks like shit...

you keep watching few day old streams and i will be watching the ALCS live in HD (1080p) with 61" of viewing pleasure from my reclining couch

i dont brag about anything...but to 'make it seem' that someone is special for getting 'free' "HD" on the internet is ludicrous...

and the best part is, the guy has no problem spending extra money on high speed internet, (which im assuming he has because of streaming "HD")

yeah dude, because only people who stream their TV have high speed internet

i only have a standard 3mbps connection and i occasionally pull down 1080i from Netflix... if I cared enough to spend another 10 bucks or so a month I could get it consistently. it's really not a huge accomplishment to get hd over the internet, nor does it require excessive bandwidth, technical knowledge, or any kind of trickery.

it's just cheaper than cable/satelite. that's all.

I go the over-the-air route. Most channels I want are free this way and come in at 1080i. I pay to watch movies though. I don't feel right watching them for free.

Went from Comcast to Verizon FiOS. HD quality is MUCH better than on Comcast. Night and day difference. AND more HD channels.

I get shows I miss off of the internet for free, but no one uploads them in higher than 720p. There is a noticeable difference from 720 to 1080, especially on a 42"+ tv.
