Question Sound Capture software? Want to record what Im hearing on my PC.

Does anyone know of any free (or torrent able) Sound capturing program?

I basically want to rip the audio off this myspace page. Its not of good quality but I still want it.

I just need to be able to record/capture the audio being played.

Thanks.

(oh and I tried a few off download.com but they were crap, didn't work on vista32)

audacity is good if your computer has a stereo mix driver, otherwise you wont be able to capture from your soundcard.

another option is, if the music is playing through flash, a firefox plugin called DownloadHelper

maybe,.. i've never tried.

but.. mic in is probably mono.

might cause interference

might crash audacity or the sound hardware(blue screen) due to infinite loop(computer would be playing and recording the same audio at the same time infinitely)

If you happen to have X-Fi it comes with a Smart Recorder that you can use to record any audio the card is processing, essentially and literally "What U Hear".

But that's only if you have an X-Fi. Sorry I couldn't be anymore help than that.

that's the "Stereo Mix" output.. and most sound cards DO have it. but the OP won't know until he installs Audacity and looks at his source options.

In my case i did not have it, but after a little research i found that the manufacturer of my sound card arbitrarily omitted it from some versions of their drivers, so i was able to install an alternate set of drivers to regain it.

Yeah audacity did not work

I don't have an actual sound card. Its just onboard.

Also download helper can't rip it off myspace. Encrypted.

green speaker out to blue line in.

You should have those two ports....

Then any recording program should be able to grab them.
