Default psp or ds I for my son?

Hey everyone. I am in a bit of a bind.
my son is 10 and his birthday is in 5 weeks. He curently has a nintendo ds but i was wondering if upgrading to a psp would be a good idea or not.?
Anybody have both and will he find the psp worth it.?
Any feedback would be great.

DS and DSi have a BY FAR larger and better software library than the PSP.

until a couple months ago, weeks and weeks would go by without even a single new PSP game being released.

plus.. who wants load times on a portable system? what a mess.

now that being said... since your son already has a DS, the only difference in the DSi are the downloadable games, very slightly larger screen, camera, and music abilities. All of the retail games play on either the DS or DSi.

My son is 10 and has both and really theres not alot of games for the psp he likes. So i guess it would depend on the type of games he likes. My son is into the shooting ones which i know there is alot for the psp but even that said he would rather play his DS. But first he'd rather play his Xbox 360.

no,.. you're absolutely right,.. because they're programmed, written, drawn, and scored by robots so it doesn't make any sense that it should cost anything beyond the price of the media it's on.

Perhaps not the cost of JUST the media, but they are still stupidly over priced. Especially for DS games...$39.99 WTF? And $59.99 for others? The fuck! If they're able to drop $20-30 in a month or two after launching, they sure as fuck didn't need to be that much in the beginning.

some games are definitely overpriced. $39.99 DS games are VERY rare though. The only publisher I can think of that puts their games that high is Square-and let's be honest.. a LOT of work goes into those games when they're filling 40+hours of gameplay). Nintendo published games are usually $34.99 and many others are $19.99 or $29.99.

Back in the day you'd pay $60-$70 for most RPGs on the SNES and would never find even the most basic games for under $40.

I'll never buy a game that I feel is overpriced, but I don't feel that gives me the right to steal it either.

And the reason that games drop in price so fast is because retailers don't have room to offer them for long. Games come out at such a fast pace that they can't afford to keep games up there once their sales are slow, so they drop the price to clear them out. With the bad economy this is happening faster now than it has in the past, but that doesn't mean every creative talent in the game industry should take a 50% paycut so that they can launch the games at those prices initially(esp. since first week sales represent something like 70-80% of sales for most games). How much effort would these guys put in if they have to work for minimum wage?

Square games are usually worth every cent...but DS games I just can't pay for. If it makes you feel any better, I usually get so bored of the DS games I can't play them longer than an hour or so.

Unless it's the Pokemon games. Holy shit the DS pokemon games are probably one of the top 10 RPGs of all times.
