So the alley behind my house is pretty cracked up, and theres a big chunk of concrete thats missing altogether. For most people this is probably not a huge issue, but because I have the SRT lowered a bit, it's quite troublesome.
Basically if I back into my garage from the wrong side, the hole lines up perfectly with my front passenger side wheel and due to the slope of the driveway section, my car has a good chance at getting stuck. In fact it happened last night and I was a minute from calling a tow truck to help until I found just enough traction to pull myself out.
Anyway,.. money is tight right now and I can't imagine that it's terribly hard to fill a hole myself, so can anyone give me any advice?
Is it as simple as just pouring the concrete in and then leveling it out? Right now there is no concrete material in the hole at all.. it's right down to dirt(it could be fine gravel.. i didn't inspect it very closely.. i just know that it's black and getting kicked up when my wheel was spinning in it).
A bag of quickrete mortar mix should do it, has gravel in it I think. Cheap stuff and mix some water with it and bam 10 min later hole is filled, just let it set.
I always thought it was better to put rock between the dirt and cement. Even if it's not necessary, you'll use less cement and it'll dry faster. I don't think now is a bad time to do it, but I would try to pick a nice sunny day.
It should be fine, just get a bag of quickcrete and some bonding agent to bond the old with the new, and make sure the ground is solid/tamped as much as possible. Then just mix it up, pour it in, level it off, let it dry, and you are set.
