We'll see what happens. I liked Cosmo, he's a friendly dog. Also doesn't need a leash outside like my beagle does.
I've never owned 2 dogs before, but I know I could handle it. I just think it would be good for Dax to have a friend around while I'm at work (about 11 hours he's by himself).
Cosmo's owner is still not sure and they may keep Cosmo depending on if they can find something for his fiancee's allergies. She feels bad that he's thinking about giving the dog up for adoption.
Boston Terriers are fantastic dogs for families. From what I remember they were used by royalty as family pets and that was their only purpose.
If your beagle was bred from a hunting bloodline then you will never be able to take it outside without it being on a leash of some sort. My brother uses a shock collar on his because he is able to control him even if he gets away from him and gets outside of the yard. Believe it or not they are actually pretty humane. I used one on my Pit and I could take him to the park and he would stay right beside me the entire time just jogging with me. As soon as I put a regular leash on him, even with a pincher collar, he would try to pull and lead.
I was adamantly against a shock collar until my brother talked me into it. It relieved a ton of stress and anxiety about having the dog out in the yard. It took him about 3 times to realize what would happen once I gave him a command and he didn't do it. I let him out in the yard and realized I didn't have the remote with me. As soon as I headed back in the house to grab the remote I saw the neighbor who loved Gus. Gus saw him and took off across the yard at a dead run. While I was scrambling to get the remote I looked over and saw him sitting at the property line that I had established just waiting on me.

Once I realized what he had done I pet him, congratulated him and took him across the road to play.
