Began weight training about 4 months ago weighing 164lbs and I just passed the 170lb mark. Hoping to reach my goal of 175 within the next 4-5 months. Doing all of this while trimming fat and gaining as much muscle as possible is getting tougher because my body's metabolism is so fast. The only supplement I prefer using is MaxProtein. Once in the morning with my shit-load-o-egg white breakfast and once after working out around 7 P.M. I've been keeping all of my carbs to whole grains and fruits/veggies. Trying to only stick with good fats and maintaining at least 200g of protein a day.
Right now I'm eating about 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and a glass of skim milk before bed every night. What else do you guys eat before bed?
FYI your metabolism works its hardest when your asleep. Therefore, eating before you sleep to try and gain weight will not work as effectively as eating during the day when its less active.
yeah but u want to digest as much protien as you can while your body heals when your sleeping. i havent heard of anything better than scoops of pb or pb&pb on wheat before bed
what else do your eat during the day??? tuna, fish, chicken, you should have some english muffins with your breakfast its a healthy way to gain weight
there is nothing wrong with eating before you go to sleep. the only affect you will get is mabe some insomnia due to the fact that you have bumped your motabolizm up and now your body is more active. if you are trying to put on lmm you are gonna want to drink a protien drink roughly 30 mins befor bed as you do most of your repaing of muscle cells when in sleep. there for you want to have your bodies meal ticket( amino acids) in abundance.
stay away from carbs before bed as those will aid in energy and will also make it harder to go to sleep.
hope this helps.
also...not that penut butter and milk are bad but your body has a hard time breaking milk down and penut butter .(the good stuff) is pretty fatty, and like milk will take longer to be broken down.
you want to make it as easy as possible for your body to get what it needs. milk, cheese, darry products are not easily broken down by the body and most of it doesnt get broken down in time to be used up before it gets thrown out.

Making it take longer to break down is a good thing when you won't be getting any more protein for 8 hours.
I drink a protein shake, eat some Greek yogurt, or do both before bed.
I work out in the evening and I drink a protein shake right after the gym & if time permits, I hit the chow hall & eat whatever protein rich food they have. But lately though, the chow hall is slacking so I end up eating turkey & tuna.
