Default Romanian Deadlift Help

i've been shooting to hit 405 lbs. at least once. right now, i'm able to do 315 x 10 reps. i lose my grip just trying to hold 405. any tips on gripping the damn thing a little bit better? i use straps and for anything over 315, i use a belt.

These are what you need.

These things kick ass. I've had mine about 4-5 yrs. I bought them one time I went to the Arnold Classic. Those old wraps suck.

the versa gripps look pretty good, although i couldn't get a good look at them in the videos they provide.

i've tried just holding the weight and it does seem to help. i know i can do the weight, i just can't get a good enough grip to hold it during the rep. maybe those gripps will help out.

They work really good. You can almost loosen your grip while using these because of how they work. The versa gripp wraps around the bar the opposite direction of your hand. The weight of the bar actually helps keep the grip in place. When I first looked at them, they had a pull up bar and weights to try them on. I used one of them and could hold myself on the pull up bar with just two fingers.

just work on your grip until you can lift it, gripps always seemed like cheating to me.

isnt the point to get the weight up to workout your legs? how would having something to help your grip possibly negatively effect the point of the exercise?

It's not gonna negatively effect your legs, but a deadlift done right gives your whole body a workout, including your grip by holding onto the weighted bar itself.

But if your grip is the weak part, you will be holding back the rest of your workout.
