Default How much water to drink a day?

Okay i'm confused as fuck here.

I'm hearing 8x8 which would be around 64 ounces of water a day.

I did some lil calculator thing and for me being 163lbs and not breastfeeding () it says I need to drink 113 ounces a day.

WTF?

i drink around a gallon a day... but a good rule of thumb is, drink water until your urine is clear. so as the day goes by your urine will get clearer all the way up until you go to bed. fat is mostly salt, sugar, and water... hence the more water you drink the less you will hold helping you to loose weight, by increasing your metabolism.

Water is pretty much all I drink. Water cooler 5 feet from my office door will do that to you. Would guess 3-4litres of water per day.

water is in mostly everything you eat, so drinking that much h2o is really unnecessary, if you drink juice or eat alot of soup, then these can be substituted for your daily liquid intake. that number is probably the amount of fluid you should consume in a day.

I drink around 4 20oz bottles of coke a day.

The closest thing to water I drink is lemonade....and that happens once or twice a week.

My pee has a "buzz" sound to it when coming out and also foams!!!

From - Bodybuilding Nutrition - Bodybuilding Nutrition Basics

Water
Water is by far the most abundant substance in our body. Without water, an organism would not survive very long. Most people that come to me for advice on how to get in shape, almost always underestimate the value of water.

Water is good for the following reasons:

1) Over 65% of your body is composed of water (most of the muscle cell is water).

2) Water cleanses your body from toxins and pollutants that would get you sick.

3) Water is needed for all of the complex chemical reactions that your body needs to perform on a daily basis. Processes such as energy production, muscle building, and fat burning require water. A lack of water would interrupt all of these processes.

4) Water helps lubricate the joints.

5) When the outside temperature is up, water serves as a coolant to bring the body temperature down to where it is supposed to be.

6) Water helps control your appetite. Sometimes when you feel hungry after a good meal this sensation indicates a lack of water. Drinking water at that time would take the craving away.

7) Cold water increases your metabolism.

In order to know how much water your body needs a day, just multiply your lean body weight by .66. This would indicate how many ounces of water you need in a day

So (weight - weight made up of fat) x .66 = ounces of water

say 200 pounds
10% body fat (20 pounds of fat)

200lbs - 20lbs fat = 180 lean pounds

180 lean pounds x .66 = 118.8 ounces of water per day

* Studies have shown that protein synthesis occurs at a higher rate in muscle cells that are well hydrated. What does that mean? It means that without water, your body has a really tough time converting the protein that you eat into muscle.
* Your blood is what carries the nutrients through your body to your muscles, and your blood is 80% water. What happens if that stream is drying up? What is the point of eating all those great foods if they never get to where they need to go?
* If you go weight lifting very often, you may have noticed that your muscles get a real “pump” during your workout and look inflated afterwards. Ever wondered what that pump is? It’s blood that fills the muscle tissue and keeps fuel and nutrients where they belong. Again, if your blood is 80% water and you don’t drink the water your body needs, how will this affect your recovery?
* Water clears waste products away from muscle sites so that the muscle building process can continue uninterrupted.

Also to add to the list. I bought a huge ass Aquafina 1.5L bottle and I fill it up pretty much everyday and drink it throughout the day. Don't know if i'll actually lose weight but after not drinking anymore soda it should do some damage

I fill a half liter bottle 5-6 times a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It's made a huge difference for me, since cutting out soda and alcohol. I feel so much better. Now I just need to start working out again.
