i have a viper 791XV and i had to have the installer set it to active system, so that like 30 seconds after shutting the car off and shutting the door it arms itself. Also if you show you insurance company that you have an active system with auto-on you get a whopping 35% off your premium

see i installed the active system and once i shut the door while it is turbo timing, it will unlock the doors when the car shuts off. that is how it is set up so that when you turn the key off it will unlock all your doors. but regardless if i lock the doors while it is turbo timing or not, it will still unlock the doors once it shuts off. it will auto arm the system 30 seconds later, but won't lock the doors. so, anybody could still open the door, jack my ipod and leave.
I think your going to have to turn off the auto-unlock to get it to work.
Does it lock the doors when you arm it manually?
It could be the way its set up. I know mine had sensativity issues and they had to adjust it. Every time the train would go by my car alarm would go off....at 2:00am. I watched the guy adjust the settings buy i didnt really get into it. It was a free install so i might as well save my skin for another mod
I arm mine after I get out. If you program it (take to dealer to have it flashed with a bit writer or use valet button and manual) to active, it will lock after 30 sec of all the doors closing. keep in mine though, if you leave your keys in your car, it WILL lock you out.

As long as you have the Sentry Key then you already have a PASSIVE immobilizer. Active is when you arm if yourself.
Here in BC the government ran insurance company has already paid for 5000 immobilzers to be installed in Ford trucks, without the PATS system, so it would cut down on auto theft. Since they started the Bait Car program here around Vancouver the GVRD has gone from #1 in auto theft in North American to somewhere way down the line. Autotheft has gone down 70% since the program came in.
Oh and yeah just get your alarm system changed to Passive Arming and have the ignition controlled locks turned off and then the car will not unlock when the turbo timer shuts down.

like i said, i already have it on active mode. it will still unlock the doors once the car turns off, then proceed to its 30 sec count, then arm the system but doesn't lock the doors.

If needed tommorow I can give you instructions on how to wire a relay to arm the car while the turbo timer is running so you can just lock and arm the car and not deal with waiting
I have the diagram in my toolbox and cant remember it off the top of my head

yeah man if you could. so i can arm it AND lock the doors AND it won't unlock them when the timer shuts off the car?
Ok guys this is FROM the techs at DEI about how to wire in a relay to make the turbo timer work and still be able to arm and lock the car doors
you will need to turn the auto unlock feature off msot likely so it doesnt unlock our car
copied word for word
When adding an alarm system to a vehicle with a turbo timer the ignition input to the alarm must be isolated so it can be armed while the turbo timer is active. Some of the current turbo timers must see ignition input while the key is on before it will activate when the ignition is shut off. Both of these issues can be resolved by wiring a relay as shown below Note: some newer turbo timers have output during activation that can be used to trigger a relay to open the alarm ignition input for as long as the turbo timer is active. If the turbo timer you are using has that feature this tip is unnecessary but can be used
Clifford G4 ALARMS: G4 alarms with onboard ignition kill relays should have the ignition output of the turbo timer added to the output side <green/blue> of the alarm making the use of an ignition bypass unnecessary
12 VOLT FUSED 87 TURBO TIMER IGNITION OUTPUT WIRE 86 & 87A IGNITION WIRE TO COIL 30 GROUND 85 IGNITION WIRE FROM KEY/IGNITION INPUT TO ALARM 87A
that should be just what you need
