Default viper car alarm/car was broken into!

any one had a install problem from best buy with the viper car alarm? my car got broken into last night/this morning, but the alarm was still armed. i noticed that i was able to open all my doors except the drivers door, and even pop my hood without the alarm even sounding off or chirping, and as soon as i would open the drivers door the alarm would start going off. i find it hard to believe that the alarm would intentialy only cover 1 out of 4 doors so im wondering if it was an install error. if so does anyone know if best buy would be responsible for some of the items stolen or am i shit out of luck?

Lame sauce!

Definitely an install error, some cars I know you could tap the pin switch at the drivers door and it would cover all 5 doors (trunk) and that some cars you have to tap the dome light to get it to work properly.

If you had receipts, you could call the manager of that store and ask them. Sadly tho, just like the rest of america, nobody likes responsibly for their actions, and your likely screwed. :'(

The alarm was obviously not working properly, on my last Viper alarm you couldn't fart next to the car without setting off the alarm or at least get a chirp. Are you sure it didn't get damaged in the break in? It's very possible they did something to the alarm wiring after or during the break in. But anyways, definitely take it back to the place or maybe look into a lawyer but I wouldn't get your hopes up, I'm sure they have a disclaimer somewhere that will protect them.

theres no damage the alarm was still armed when i walked out to the car. i even checked it after i noticed to make sure no wires were cut, and it went off fine after i opened the drivers door and the trunk, but the other 3 doors and the hood didnt do anything, which is wierd because my neighbors truck always chirps my alarm....ya like i said it was best buy, and last time the messed up on the install and it shorted out and they replaced it with a whole new system, and ive still got all the reciepts, it hasent even been installed for a year yet either.

Bust out the receipts and read the fine print and I'm sure it will answer all your questions.

That's exactly what happened to my first car. I had Best Buy install the alarm and it turns out that they never even mounted the shock sensor to the chasis. As far as them having any liability, I've already gone done that road, look at the paperwork you signed. Best Buy is not liable that's where they got me. Good luck man that's why I do all the installs on my car now.

Its not exactly srt4 specific this could be for any car imo. Its about an alarm and an installer. If he posted it was on a regular neon would it count?

Sorry to hear bro, I worked at Best Buy for a little while and on average one person a week came in to have the install touched up. As far as i know best buy is going to put it on you but good luck.

first this post has nothing to do with a srt4, it has to do with the alarm so chill out....

second, i was told by the superviser i have a pretty good case since there was a default in the install. i have to fill a complaint with the costomer service department but was told that if that didnt get me anywhere to come back in and they should be able to "issue" me a gift certificate for the purchase toward a new amp and capacitor, espicaly since it wasnt like the whole stereo and deck got stolen and since it wasnt like they worked there way around the alarm. i was also told that the front and back doors and each side should be on the same line and since the front drivers door but the left back door didnt work it shows a mistake with the install.

ill post back any info for anyone who has had the same issues if i can get best buy to own up for there screw up

good luck. if you do get a gift card don't waste it on a capacitor.

i was told this is one reason many places offer free installs if you buy product from them. techniquely you didnt pay for install so they didnt fraud you if install was done poorly. Also many installers are paid on commission so often techniquely they are independent contractor not employees.

This is just general not sure the case at Best Buy.

Often you can contact your insurance and they will provide you an attorney or access to one. Even a simple letter from an attorney to a few Best Buy Upper management will get things working faster and in your favor.

Doesn't suprise me. Have people come in everyday and bashing us for our prices over the Best Buy/Futureshop prices. Guess they went directly to your drivers door pin. In our cars the dome light wire can be used for a door trigger and it covers all door. The hood does not have a factory hood pin. Best Buy would most likely want $50 extra to do that. The trunk pin can be found in the drivers kick too. Basic alarms at my work start at $350CDN. That includes:

Door pin
Trunk pin(if there is an available wire at the front of the vehicle)
Shock sensor
park light flash(some places don't include it)
Keyless(if there is already power locks in the vehicle)
Trunk release(if wire is available at the front of the vehicle)

Sure a little more than most places but hey you get a lot more in the end.

Oh and mods i am not advertising anything, I am just putting out there that you usually get what you pay for. You get a "free install" well you get lack of quality in the install usually.
