Ok so I just purchased a security system for my 05 srt4 and I need some help on doing the install. I was going to have it professionally installed but eveyone quoted me at 65 an hour for 4-6 hours.... that a lot. Well I am pretty good with wiring so I am hoping this will be easy for me. Any tips will help tremendously thanks!!

HA...if you have never done this before, and I mean specifically remote starters/alarms, pay someone to do it. I don't care if you have wired a 100 radios, 3000 subs and amps, and 50 turbo timers, an alarm/rs will NOT be easy for you and will probably take you atleast 2-3 times as long to install it than a pro that does this for a living, besides the fact that any shop worth your time will offer you a lifetime warranty on their labor.
The best security system in the world is only as good as it's install and is 100% ineffective if the person installing it does not do it properly or well enough to keep a car thief (that knows what he is doing) from getting around it. Especially in a car like this that may be a high priority target in your area, I would highly recommend against installing it yourself. That being said I have been a professional installer for about 8 years now and if you insist on doing it yourself I can give you a few pointers and some help. use tech sheets, a multimeter, lock and unlock are on the same wire... trunk pop is really located in the dash, not the drivers kick like some of the tech sheets will say. burned my relay finding that one out...

ALL of the wires you will need for the alarm (minus a trunk trigger and hood trigger and the ignition harness of course) you can get at the keyless module under the dash pad above where the radio and heater vents are. Like he said get a DMM and learn to use it if you don't know already.
You will need to use relays and resistors to function the doorlocks, diode isolate the door triggers (one does both drivers doors and one does both passenger doors). Also if you are planning to do the remote start portion you will need to grab your ebrake wire, and use a relay to bypass the clutch safety. There is no neutral safety wire in our cars so you will need to get inventive to make your own. Also for remote start you will need some sort of bypass to get past the skim module. Expect to pay around 70 for the bypass as you will most likely need to have it flashed by a shop around you. Also for remote start you will need to have two keys already in order to program a third (in this case the bypass) |

You can get a bypass module to get the unlock and lock some of the other wires. I would definitely pay someone to do it for you. I have installed them for a living and my friend still does and it took him several hours to put mine in. Plus it might effect the warranty on the unit if its not professionally installed.

This. DEI has a lifetime warranty on their products (minus the remotes) that requires professional installation to validate said warranty. |

If you dont know what you are doing please post pictures of the carnage about to happen
rofl:Ive been doing this almost 12 years professionally and if you DONT know what you are doing DONT even attempt it Do you know how to use resistors, diodes and relays??? If YOU dont have a fundemental knowledge of these items OR how to PROPERLY AND SAFELY wire this don do it...Remember an alarm is ONLY as effective as the INSTALL If you feel like getting a professional to install it and are ever down in south florida I am MORE than willing to install it for you....For a price of course

Yea man be careful especially with a manual tranny. If not done correctly you could kill someone. Im sure you can find someone out there to do it for you cheaper. Wish I was down there to help you out.

Thank you everyone for the information. I know how to use dioids, resistor, and relays but I don't think I am going to dick with this project this time. I will just have to fork out the 300+ to have the install done by a local shop.
