i have been searching and this is what i have thought of
the kicker SS65.2 for the front components and rear deck and run the 8 inch midbass set in the front doors too. custom door panels would be made. does the 650.4 has enough power to run the components and the midbass? the 650.4 is rated at 175 rms x 4 @ 2ohm and 120rms x 4 @ 4 ohm. the SS65.2 are a 3 ohm load and the midbass is at 4 ohm. how would i run this setup?
i am also considering a 8" kicker L7 in a custom sealed rear center console pushed by a 400.1 in the back seat. down firing with cupholders in the top - i have kids that need them.
Real quick, I had the Kicker 650.4 running my CDT Components a little while back. I found it ran better at 2 ohms than 4 ohms, but it still was a very nice amp. Got real hot though. Mine was the older version though. I'll read the rest of the stuff and update with my suggestions but thought I'd add my expierences with the amp real quick.
i would like to keep it kicker as i have a kicker thing going. how are the kicker SS components?
i really would like to get some midbass punch. should i do some 8" subs or midbass in the rear deck?
i listen to metal and rap so i love a nice tight PUNCH (think pantera double bass drums) to my bass, but i also like it to resonate ghetto style.
what should i do to round out my sound? i am also open to add another amp for midbass if needed.
Fred,
It's not an equipment problem. It's a tuning/installation problem.
You are lacking midbass and this is a cheaper fix then running out and purchasing new speakers and still being disappointed.
Dynamat the doors. Put at least one layer of dynamat over all the holes in the door. Car speakers are designed to be Infinant baffle, if you don't cover up the holes, the sound wave from the front will cancel out the sound wave from the rear of the speakers. These waves need to be seperated (via the dynomat).
You need to properly level match your system. Go to the stickie's and read tuning 101 thread. This takes time, but if done properly your stereo will rock!!

I agree with this.
What you plan on doing is going to cause you a great amount of disappointment most likely. Sometimes overkill doesn't achieve results. You may want to invest in a High End Headunit and active crossover setups as well.
i have an alpine 9855 for my head unit. seems to have a shit load of settings and tuneability.
i will go buy a shit load of dynomat and do the doors.
RHunter, you stil in san antonio?
is this like what you are talking about?
Hey Fred,
I moved from San Antonio when I retired from the navy. I don't have internet at the house and the government computers wont let me see the pics. I cable guy is coming by on tues so I'll post a reply to your question.

Yup, just like that. If u still don't have mid bass then I can think of two things that might help.
1- cut some wooden mounting rings foe the speaker.
2 - could be a phase problem or crossover settin . The good news is it will only cost you time 2 fix these problems. Look at the stickies for the tuning 101 thread.
I wish I could get a hold of your car for just 4 hours!!! I'd have that thing sounding good as all get out!!! I competed in Iasca for about 5 years. I'm trying to find old pics of my system, if I find em I'll post some up.
