Default Subwoofer Review Thread

We are going to start something new, and might branch to the other parts of Car audio and maybe eventually into the Security and Video parts of this section (if it is successful). Here are the rules:

Post your current setup, listing everything, including:

Amplifier: Its wattage and impedence it's running at (1 ohm, 2 ohm, 4 ohm, etc)
Subwoofer: Size and impedence (SVC, DVC, 1 ohm, 2 ohm, 4 ohm, etc)
Box: Size, and (if ported) the tuning frequency.

Then post the following when referring to the subwoofer:
- Pros
- Cons

Mainly this is just for a person that is looking into getting a system for their car. They can come to this thread, and search a specific subwoofer and see how it has performed.

I will start out with my last setup I had in my Subaru.

Amplifier: Hifonics 1606D - Ran at 1600watts @ 1ohm.
Subwoofer: TC Sounds TC-3000 - DVC 2 ohm I believe? Could handle 1500 watts RMS, 2500 peak.
Box: 2.35^3 ft @ 33 hertz

Pros:
- Huge SPL (Hurt everything in the body)
- Extreme SQ, hitting the lowest of the low notes.
- Never bottomed out taking 1600watts.

Cons:
- Weighed almost 70lbs (Over 100lbs with box)

mine is not installed yet, but all the parts are sitting here. just need to find more spare time to build the idea i have in my mind.

as far as a review, the other car has a set of jl 10w-0 subs and they are pretty damn good. i think they were only like $70 or $80 each and they really pound. i am running about 150rms to each and most people don't believe it. in their previous home with 200rms to each i hit 141.1 at the windshiled in a ported box tuned to 35. i had a semi-local professional place build the box for me and it was worth every penny.

the new system in the process of being installed:

Amplifier:

Cadence TXA3004 running 4 x 75rms @ 4ohm @ 13.3
Cadence TXA6004 bridged 2 x 600rms @4ohm @ 13.3
Coustic (i forget the name it's in the garage) old 2 x 35rms @4ohm (dash speakers to play the bt gps)

Subwoofer:

Alpine Type-R swr-1022 10" dual 2ohm vc subs, pair.

Speakers:

Alpine Type-r spr-17ls components for the front doors
Alpine Type-r spr-69c 6x9 rear deck
still searching for a st of 3.5" to replace the dash

Box:

Well, that remains to be determined. I have the idea in my head, I just have to build it. I did a set of single boxes last year for my other car, but this project is going to take a little more work than that did. you can see my last project here.

I have about 70sqft of dynamat xtreme to install as well as building the fiberglass box for the trunk and the rear parcel shelf. Going to be a busy spring in my garage.

I have a hifonics 160 it hits at 1600 watts rms it is powering a 12" orion h2 at 1600 watts into 1 ohm.
Pros- Ridiculously loud hits way harder than most 15's when peeps ask me what i got and I tell them one 12 they dont believe me until i pop the trunk it is loud. the sq is good too even in ported box.
Cons- Fucking heavy I am not sure how heavy it is but it must be close to 100 pounds in box with amps.
