Default Someone pick my speakers

I've got all the go fast mods and could tell you about them all day long, but have absolutely no idea about anything when it comes to aftermarket audio stuff. I'm really looking for someone to just say, "Get these" I have an aftermarket head unit (Panasonic CQ-C8303U) My left front speaker sounds like garbage, and one of the wires is cut on the left rear from having something in the trunk. What speakers do I get, and do I need to repair that wire on the left rear or will the new speaker replace that too?

A link to my HU:

Panasonic CQ-C8303U CD receiver with MP3/WMA playback at Crutchfield.com

Any help is much appreciated.

Edit: Oh, what I'm looking for. I won't be getting a sub. These speakers are as far as I will go for audio stuff. I like playing my music loud because of the open exhaust, I would like to be able to hear it with that or the windows down without problems. I don't want to spend a ton of money on these, so help me out. I think $150 - $175 should be enough..?

sounds like you "should" buy a amp to run your speakers.

yes you will need to fix that wire going to your speaker for it to work. Think of it as the wires going to your battery. What happens when you disconnect the neg battery cable? You break the circuit and get no power right? well same thing with your speaker.

It also sounds like you want something that is a direct fit? I just purchased some boston acoustic cx65 (from crutchfield) they come with adaptors to fit directly into the doors. as far as your rear 6x9's any brand name will do. i would seriously look at a cheap 4-chan amp, if you want your music loud.

cruthfield also sells a kenwod 6204 for like 139.00!!! cheap no thrills amp!!

RHunter is correct, you really should get an amplifier for the speakers if you want good quality at mid to high volume levels. Although my opinion for the setup slightly differs. First, I would choose the Kenwood 6404 from Onlinecarstereo.Com - Wholesale Car Audio/Stereo Deals At Bargain Prices to power the speakers. You can't beat $105 shipped for a budget speaker amplifier. I would then choose the CDT audio components for the front (CDT Audio CL-S60A - CDT Audio Classic 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers) and a nice set of Pioneer Premier 6x9's for $56 dollars shipped (if added with amplifier) Pioneer Premier TS-A932P Car Speakers

Then you just need to add in wiring for the amp from Welcome To The KnuKonceptz Online Store, you can get a 1 amp 8 gauge kit and you should be good to go. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Complete 8 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit

Is that the one I need? I didn't even realize you could use an amp to power speakers only. I thought that was a subwoofer thing. I'm sure the wiring diagrams are in the stickied thread. Repairing the rear wire shouldn't be too big of a deal.

sadly, $150-175 will not be enough to make you happy. audio is just like go fast - you get what you pay for. you could get lowering springs cheaper than adjustables, but which provides you with a better return? just using guestimates, plan on about $100 per set of speakers and $100-150 for an amp to drive them. anohter $40-70 for the wiring kit and you will be set.

keep an eye on this product:

TXA-3004 - AMPLIFIERS - Cadence Acoustics, LTD

it is out of stock right now, but more are due in. for the price you cannot beat the clean power it delivers.

Yeah and maybe some speaker wire too, but you can just pick that up at the local Radioshack or walmart if you want. With the amplifier you run the speaker wire direct from the amp to the speaker, so you won't even have to worry about that wire because you can just wire new speaker wire straight to the amp. Unless its a wire on the actual speaker itself, then you need to learn to solder. Let me know if you need any help installing the amplifier. I may need to do a HOW-TO for that now that I am thinking about it.

This would be a better choice for the amplifier for Bang for the Buck if you don't mind spending another 25 bucks or so. I've heard good things about that amplifier.

Creatre, a guy I work with who is into the audio stuff was pretty impressed with the stuff you found at the price you found it at. I'll be purchasing the exact set-up you posted for me in the next week or two. I told my brother I would help him get into a new Mustang GT at the end of this week, then I'll fix myself up. In the mean time I'll keep an eye out for that other amp and see if they get any more in stock.

Thanks guy. Much appreciated.

No problem. I'm usually pretty good about finding things at decent prices. Let me know if you need any advice on setups or help for looking in something in particular.

The CD audio speakers he recommended are actually really good smooth sounding speakers!!! They are only budget because the design is like 1000 years old!! Ok not that old, but the classics are the first set of components they came out with. I had a set back in like 2000.

The good thing about the CD speakers is they the crossover frequency for the tweeters is fairly high (around 4k) so that means you can mount them higher on the doors, or dash (I don't recommend the dash) or A-pillar ECT and you wont get multi-point sourcing. In other words it would sound like all the voices are coming from the doors and horns and stuff are coming from where the tweeters are mounted.
