I have a JVC head unit with Sirius Satellite radio and it is great. Other than the fact that I have had some issues recently.
What is happening is I will be driving down the road and suddenly the audio will quit. No sound. No I did not go under a bridge/tunnel or drive by tall buildings. I am on the open road and my display still scrolls and says I am getting signal. Under a bridge is no signal. It will do this periodically when it wants to. It will stay silent for as long as a couple days or as short as a few minutes.
Sometimes it will only go really static scratchy sounding. It is not a speaker connection or something of the like because when I change the source to cd or reg radio it will play perfectly every time.
So what have I done? I have pulled the head unit and made sure all my connections were secure with the radio on and while off to see if this was the problem. I have pulled the Satellite radio receiver and checked the connections there as well.
I did notice some static while I was monkeying around with the cable (HU to Rec) which is run with the speaker wires. After playing around with that for a while there was no more static sound.
As I write this the static sound has not gone away completely. I am frustrated with this as it is annoying to have to deal with this while on the road and enjoying the Howard Stern Show.
Does anyone have any suggestions, comments or advice to help me out? Anything worth while is appreciated
OK, do you get sound from the regular radio? Can you listen to a CD? IT could be one of two things. 1. the head unit it's self, or 2. the stalite module..Best bet is to call JVC tech support and ask them... Good luck ..

Yes, I stated that already. Reg radio and CD work fine. I was thinking that maybe the cord is bad. You know the cable that connects the HU to the Sat receiver.
I have a similar setup (jvc headunit and sir-jvc tuner) and the only thing I can come up with is a bad cord. If it were the HU, it would affect other modes (cd, radio, etc). But since they still work fine, it almost has to be the cord. Maybe check and make sure the cable doesnt have any sharp kinks or bends in it. Other than that....I'm lost.

the only place where there is a sharp bend or kink is right where the cable plugs into the HU. Since it is at an awkward position. That is what I thought it was initially, but after messing with it for a while there has been no improvement.
you need a modulator. I have this issue w/ my sirius and yesterday i bought a modulator, its just another plug that you plug into the antenna. just put out the pass. lower kick panel and plug it in where the antenna connection is. It should fix it, it was $33 for mine at best buy

head unit display. The funny thing is when I have no sound, the display is scrolling the programing and signal strength as if there were sound.
Either the plug from the tuner to the JVC cd player or its the actual sirius bro...take it up to best buy or circuit city and see if someone will let you use a cable to troubleshoot it. Worse case they say sorry can't help, ya know
it cuts out because sirius is a digital signal, you either get the signal or u dont. my signal cuts out a lot around trees. the only reason u would ever get static with satellite is if u were receiving the signal from ur antenna. otherwise the signal will either be there, or it won't. the problem is sirius has a 2 second delay so as soon as the signal is lost for more than a sec or two the sound goes out until a signal is reacquirred.
