A couple of weeks ago i was just browsing around on the internet and came across a web site for high output alternators. Well being curious i gave the owner a call. I talked to him about our cars and told him our situation with our alternators. He said he could do high output alternators for our cars. He has a device he came out with last year that can help us out with our computer controlled alternators. He also said he is the only one out with this device and that it is something he invented awhile back. I wasnt to sure about it but he said hes made them for other dodge vehicles with the same problem as us. I would be the ginny pig for this but all of my money is tied in to other projects right now. he said it would be in the neighborhood of $500 if he started selling them. If anyone is intrested heres a link to his site High Output Alternator, 200-250-300-350 Amp Alternators, high output alternators, Delco Remy,Ford Truck Alternators. and his number is on the site if your really interested if it will work.
it's not impossible to bypass the ecu regulator but as you are finding out it's expensive. there are a handful of companies that claim to have way to do this but i never had faith in them. unless he is willing to offer a full warranty on any problems that may arise due to his 'invention', and i mean ANY problem, in writing (and checked and verified by an attorney), for a minimum of 2 years, save your money.
i would also ask for contact information for the dodge owners who have used his 'invention' and see what results they have had and how long they have had it installed.
i had somewhat of the same idea with it being risky so i think ill get a hold of him and see if i could contact some of the dodge owners who are using this product. ill see if he can waranty it or something in that area cause its not worth it if it messes my car up. thanks for the input nineball
The 170amp one is the one i was looking at. Aparently it will work for the SRT-4 and still use PCM regulator BUT the guy that emailed me said it is a larger housing so fitment might be an issue and custom brackets may have to be made.
I still think an 03 alternaotr may be the best solution for the money since it does 160 amps versus the 03/04 130 amps
I believe it should work without any issues but I could be wrong and u may possibly need an 03 computer as well
Maybe someone with more knowledge could chime in cause I would love a 160 amp alternator for the kinda money yyou can buy a used 03 for

did you mean 05 or 04/05? Or did they change half way through the year?

Yeah I meant 04/05
I posted it from my phone so I just fucked up
But the 03 does have a higher output alternator than the 04/05 so does anyone know if it will work??
I know it'll obviously bolt up but does anything electrical have to be changed?
i think nemo had found a way to trick the pcm into letting the alt put out more....even 130 is alot by most car standards should be plenty issue is getting the ecu to let you use it

Well in my truck I upgraded to a 300 amp alternator but thats because I have ALOT of stuff running
between the stereo setup I had and the 2 air compressors for the air bag suspension and all the other stuff the stocker just couldnt take it anymore
I got it made at a local place for 400 bucks but I dont think they are in business anymore
I am close to ragetek though so maybe ill just take a ride down there one day or give him a call
if you put in a high output alt the pcm will still dial it down our stock alt makes plenty of power the pcm just wont let us utilize it.....i swear nemo told me there was a way to trick it....but i never got an elaborate awnser...
