Default ported stock kicker box???

has anyone atempted to port the factory kicker box? If so how did it work out for you. I was thinking of doing this but I'm not sure of how long and wide I should go.

you can't just take a sealed box, stick a port in it, and call it good. you need 1) a speaker which is suitable for a ported box, 2) an enclosure designed for said speaker as a ported box, and 3) a port with the proper displacement to work with the speaker and enclosure. A ported box has to be approached as a system.

if you just stick a port in your Kicker box, you're likely to do nothing but make ugly noises and possible damage the woofer.

So are you telling me this particular box can not be ported? Or that after a little math and some research i can find the correct way to port it for a paticular sub woofer considering the dimentions of the box and the amount of air space within it?

most likely you cannot port the stock box. it will not have near enough airspace to be useful.

you should ditch the factory enclosure and get something custom made. I did a JL 13w6 in the stock location. I had to change the way it fired but provided a lot more than factory. Plus its something different its no fun having a "me to" car. Plus the factory stuff sounds like shit.

I'll take your word for it. Thing is I wanted something nice and clean so i actually bought the factory kicker for that reason but now i just wanna squeeze a little more out of it. I will probaly just upgrade the sub @ thin point and run and after market amp on it. Keep in mind i'm just trying to achevie a clean, solid, healthy sound. Not loking for the big boom.

don't!
it will loose its base...
the sealed box significantly lowering the fs (resonate frequency of the speaker), opening the box defeats the purpose..

It sounds awesome I have a really high end radio on it so it sounds great. You turn the sub control up and gets really loud. JL is the shit I highly recomend buying it. I have the same XR components in the front for like 7 years.(i took them out of my old car.) They still sound great.

I this 400.00 pioneer deck that came w/ the car when I bought it. It's got blue tooth satilite and all sorts of tuneing options but I'm not yet impressed with the sound. I have been mixing music for many years can't get it to sound the way I want. Who ever installed the radio also installed focal 6x9's, 1" tweeters, and I think doors too. Again... Not impressed. I was thinking of swaping it out with alpine but everyone keeps telling me that focal is the shit...the low end on thes things suck. Can't even get alittle out of them wich led me to the purchase of the kicker. If these speakers are as good as everyone is saying then mine are messed up or the installation is less than legit. Like I said I might sell the whole set up and go all out alpine. What do you think? Should these focal have better lows or what?
