Default which one would you use?

first polksr6500 or type r comp for front doors.
type r 6x9 or polksr65006x9

type r sub and 1000.1 v12

or polk sr124 on polk amp
whats the diff between polk reg sub and dual voice coil any big benefits? i listen to all types of music, i do enjoy more dance and techno or anything with heavy bass, but i do like it to be crisp and clear. thanks

dual voice coils just give you more wiring options which in turn allow for different amps to be used based on your final load. single or dual really doesn't matter for sound or power handling. a single voice coil sub can be 2 or 4 ohms. dual 2ohm can be 1 or 4ohm final loads, dual 4 can be 2 or 8.

i ran a set of type-r comps, and while they were ok i found then to be lacking in midbass response, a known problem with alpine comps.

i run a set of type-r 6x9 in the rear and i was very impressed with them. still am.

type-r subs are beasts and can take quite a bit more power than they are rated for but i am not sure they would like to get 1000 daily. you may be severely shortening their lifespan.

i really have no experience with polk equipment.

Nineball. Have I ever told you that you own the Audio forum. HAHA you are like GOD of this shit. You need to be the Audio, Security & Visual Electronics moderator for real dude. You know everything. How did you learn so much about this stuff? trial and error or reading?

naaa that's what we have CrEaTrE for and he does a fine job.

i have just been doing this a very long time, sometimes as a job and sometimes for the love of it. i don't know everything but i know more than most i would guess. just trying to help where i can. yes i have read a lot over the years and still do today. like everyone else i started off with junk equipment and knowing nothing. i got tired of paying people to do something that interested me so i learned how to do it. one thing lead to another and here i am today.

I just hide behind my rock and let nineball do all the work.

Just kidding, I would have lost my job now without nineball! He keeps this section alive and makes sure too many people don't blow up their cars via the electronics. He knows a good bit more than me, and always glad to read his posts both here and on caraudioforums.

As a side note, I'm completely self taught via forums and how to's. Slowly but surely I've gained a lot of experience just messing around with my stuff and my friends. The age of the internet is great for hobbies, you can learn anything via google!

I am running polksr6500 and polk sr12dvc off of alpine pdx amps. The subs are great, very clean and have great output. The SR's as long as they are installed well will have GREAT mid range, but that being said YOU HAVE To install them well. Don't throw them in the door and expect it to be perfect. They are very good speakers for the price. The tweeters are great but once again if you don't install them right they will sound very harsh. I would recommend buying them only if you're going to spend time on the install. Don't use polk amps... nuff said.

yes that is in the arm rest

As I said I run those subs and speakers they are great. The install.. Not so great the shop that did the work SCREWED ME OVER and screwed it up big time. It needs to be cleaned and finished. BTW they did this to my car while it was there

polks are overpriced IMO... Alpine components do lack in the mid... I would go with a set of Kenwood Excellons for the front. Alpine Type-Rs are probably the BEST consumer grade speaker out there before you get into prosound...

for price vs output they are a very reasonable sub but they are far from the best "consumer grade" sub available. RE, Fi, Sundown, and DD are just a few that make "consumer grade" products that can outperform a type-r. type-r are one of the most popular subs largely in part to being sold at best buy.
