Default Livin Loud Sub Replacements

Since there have been a few threads about asking what subs fit into the stock kicker sub box, I thought I'd compile a list of some of the subs that other members have successfully implanted into the box. Now from what I've read in order for the aftermarket subs to fit they need to be a shallow mount 3-5" in depth. Also You will want to replace the stock Amp with an aftermarket amp that will have enough oopfhh to power your new sub.

One question that I have is would it be possible to add a spacer or something to mount a sub that is a bit deeper?

1) Memphis 15-MC104D 5 inch mounting depth, and just barely fits
2) Kicker 10" Comp VR Have to open the hole a little wider.
3) Audio SX 10" sub
4) MTX Blue Thunder
5) Pioneer TS-SW1041D
6) JL 10W3V2-D4
7) JBL gt100 10"
8) larion 10" shallow mount sub. 3inch mounting depth and has 600watts max 300rms

If you have any others just post them up and I'll edit the list.

I am sure all of these options also require more power correct?

Yes you will need to put an aftermarket amplifier to them.

I hope this will fit (DAYTON RSS265HO-4 10" HIGH OUTPUT SUBWOOFER) cause I just bought one and I am hoping to find someones kicker enclosure to buy. I need the trunk space.

Two part question..

A: how do you take the sub box apart?

&

B: how do you hook an aftermarket amp up to the stock amp harness?

hmm yeah... maybe i wasent clear.. how do you take the subwoofer enclosure apart to take the stock subwoofer out of the enclosure to replace it with a new subwoofer............

and your saying i cant use my stock deck i have to use an aftermarket deck so i can hook up a gay amp kit...

how is this diferent and unique then just putting in a system? the whole idea i was going for was just to replace the sub and put a better amp on the stock harness, cause if i use an aftermarket deck i loose my 6 disk cd changer..

now answer questions..

It's very easy.

Unplug the harness form the kicker box.

Remove the screw in the back of the box. The screw holds the box to the trunk, Also there's a nut behind the divers tail light holding the box. There's also a velcro piece under it.

Remove the whole thing. You will feel some resistance due o the velcro piece.

Remove the screws in the front of the box, these are the ones that hold the speaker.

Put the new speaker and a a new grille.

Put everything back.

You may want to use a real amp. If you dont' have a aftermarket HU, you can get a converter like this one to use your factory HU:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-jV81EXp...rter&i=142SLC4

I don't recomend using the harness to power a different amp because:

The wires are not thick enough
It uses a amplified signal instead of a pre amp signal (AFAIK).
Don't ask me for the blue antenna wire.
In fact I don't know which cable is what or whre it goes inside the car.

Should look like this:
