I'm glad to see you got the heating issue taken care of. What would also be sick is if you added the AEM engine management system. With that set up you can tune on the fly. Good work though

I am planning on getting the AEM down the road. I think it's worth the money just for the added traction control that I hear is in it. I don't know 100% that it has it, maybe someone could verify that for me.. It is expensive though.

The Camera came from ebay. Along with pretty much every other part..

Tonight I'm doing the first coat of silver on the face plate. I cannot do too much tonight, I must go pick up my girl, and that could take 4 hours or so. Long distance relationships can be though, but I will be working on the project _all_ weekend, and monday and tuesday for sure! I had taken those days out of work to do the installation. I don't have every part in yet though, so I will have to install a few things next weekend. :-(

Just a little backround on me: I have been on computers since I was 6 and had my vic-20 (for those that know what that is) I have worked with everything from alpha's to ultra sparc's, I was a custom installer for 3 years, and then a mechanic for 8 or so. I now work in a office in an administration department. (just another office worker now). Previously I built a 68 mustang coupe, and a Supercharged (yeah I know) 1987 RX-7 (I used a toyota sc14 supercharger on top of the high compression 6-port 1.3L. The charger looked just like the MR-2 charger, just 3 inches longer.)

btw, I know this message is off topic, but I feel as though I should post once a day now. People have been checking this thread a lot.. :-D

Any questions, please ask. If you can see me running into a problem, please post. This is a lot of options going in at once, and although I have dreamed this idea for about a year, theres no way I can think of every speedbump in the road ahead.

You guys all rock! HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY NIGHT!! (I tell all my friends to) Be SAFE!

I have named the project.

Project: SRT-PC

That one did not take much thought.

This project seems killer, I'd do it myself if I had the time and money.

If I could make a suggestion, you should also wire up a relay from the PC to the ignition/battery as a remote cut-off, that way if the car is ever stolen, you can stop it dead in its tracks after remoting in! Let's hope there's not many wireless dead spots where you live, though!

Only flaw I can see thus far is if you leave your car sitting overnight on an extremely cold night (i.e. below zero), your components are going to collect a TON of condensation when you warm the car up in the morning. There's a chance this could toast some of your components like your CPU or RAM.

All of the rca's are coming out.. I will run the sub out on the computer up to my audiocontrol epic-150 in the dash and then back to the amp, but wiring will be ran down the center (I think).

Again good work on details and taking your time to do it right. Much respect, but what about moisture. will that effect your puter?

I have not thought of it too much.. The computer will be mounted in a rack mount box, nothing is really close together, so, I don't think the moisture that might accumulate on the metal parts to effect the pc boards. The hard drives are sealed and I believe they not only are filled with co2, or argon, but they have a little moisture absorber in them. We already know that computers will work in a car. There are people on www.mp3car.com that are running duel cores on their cars.. The whole computer I built cheap. motherboard, chip, ram = $200, HDD's = old one lying around, case = had it in my basement, atx 12v PS = $250, video card = $60. If it blew in a year I would replace it, and do something to fix the problem. Some long haul trucks have pretty complex computer systems in them too.. I donno... I'll feel it out.
