They did a write up/how to in Performance Audio and Sound mag. Came out OK but you have some cutting and lose the bezel were the TOYS would go. You would be better off getting a flip out like said above.

I have the Alpine d310 single din flipout and I thought the same about the AC controls at first. I got over it really quick as it really isn't THAT big of a deal, plus the 310 has a "lay flat" button that lowers the screen for about 15 seconds if I need to do any adjusting. I am thinking about glassing a new bezel for a DDIN Alpine with Navi, but I've just been too lazy to do so. With a little bit of behind bezel modification it shouldn't be a problem to fit a double din with a customized bezel and leave everything else (AC controls, toys if applicable, ect) in their normal spots.

o make them fit how i did i had to shave the ac control panel front down and cut a lil plastic behind dash and thats all. wasn't hard to do and better than having a fold out. i got tired of mine for over a year and also worried bout the hinges and all going out and got bumped alot.

Really interested in final pictures! Could you take a picture of the ac controls before you do your final install if you haven't already? Very nice.

test fit a Pioneer D3 in my dash today and there definitely is plenty of room in the dash to fit a DDIN without modifying/moving AC/Heater controls or toys. Radio bezel will need modification but that really is it.

Default double din

I have a poineer d2 in mine. There is plenty of room without moving ac controls, you just have to modify the bezel. Search it, I put a small how to together before. There are many ways to do it.
