The remote control is bad. This has been a real PITA with these 2 way remotes from Compustar lately. I bet I have to deal with this about once a month these days in the shop.

Sorry to highjack the thread. I didnt want to start a new thread with the same topic.
Yesterday a problem started with my remotes. Both the small clicker and the pager wont comunicate with the alarm. The alarm still functions just fine, i just had to manually put it in valet mode because i couldnt deactivate the alarm with the remotes. Is this something a compustar installing shop would be able to help me with? The alarm is 3 years old and was install by a shop thats 2 states away.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Yeah they can but I am sure they'll charge you something. Try to do this.... Click your ignition on and off 5 times with in 7 seconds. Right after the last time you click it off, you should hear/see the lights flash. If you do, press one of the buttons on one of the remotes then do the same on the other remote. Each time a button is pressed on either remote the lights should flash. If it responds everything should be fine. If not you are either not it learn mode or your antenna/cable is bad.

I was about to go try this but i was able to communicate with the pager again. The small clicker has bad range though. You almost have to put it up to the alarm's antenna on the window to get it to communicate. You think its probably a problem with the antenna?

No, my guess it's the remote itself. Compustar has been having serious issues with their remote controls lately. The Pro AM series and the 2ways (both regular and pro) are constantly coming in the shop with issues just like you've stated.
also check your remote battery. I find mine LOVES to eat through batteries

My alarm is not that new. Its not a pro series. Its about 3 or 4 years old. The pager and clicker looks like this:
I think model number is 2W900FMR. Have you ran into any glitches with this alarm?
It hasn't tripped out again yet. The only problem i have now is that the siren wont sound when i activate and de-activate the alarm. Its not on mute mode either. The alarm will still go off though.
i really havnt had a problem with my pro. Only thing i can complain about is signal strength sucks. They say 3000 feet, but no, never. Other then that it does great. I have it set on sensitive so to slight touch of the car or something it will go off.

I've only seen a real small amount have issues with range and it's usually an antenna problem.
