Sorry for not researching, but what do you get with the kicker package? amp and subs and a cd changer?

You get Kicker speakers all around, a 10" kicker sub in a sealed box, and a 6 disc changer in the dash. Same model stereo, but its flashed with a different EQ
Edit: 75w to the sub

so what exactly sucks about it???? do you hear it distorting or something?...its basicly Kickers step below the top of the line component sets and one alright 10 inch sub in a box that would cost you about 200 to get made so add it up.....component set front 150ish rear 140ish box 200ish sub 110ish amp 200ish cd player 200ish etc etc did you hook something up wrong "out of phase" check your grounds etc etc etc etc....

i find it very hard to believe kicker would put RS series components in the kicker package. typically aftermarket companies put in their lowest line, or a step above the lowest line for factory applictations.
you should always listen to what you are buying before you buy it. did you test drive the SRT before you got it? then you should have cranked the stereo. then at least you could have picked one without the kicker package. of course since the speakers are essentially aftermarket speakers, they are going to quieter than standard OEM speakers due to lower efficiency operating on the same power. replace the deck or add an amp for the front speakers. think about replacing the sub as well. i can't believe they kept the stock HU with aftermarket speakers. they should have at least invested a tiny bit more and made the stock HU more powerful to compensate for the aftermarket speakers. the whole kicker system looks like an afterthought that they tried to incorporate into the vehicle and did not do a very good job of it.
The kicker "Livin Loud" package is really nothing more than a small upgrade to the stock system. It doesn't allow for good imaging/ sound staging because the subwoofer is tied into the signal for the rear speakers (turning down the rear stage= turning down the bass). Could you have put something better together yourself for 750? Sure. Could you have gone to your local stereo shop, buy something comperable, and get it installed for 750? Not as easily. In my opinion the Kicker "Livin Loud" system isn't for true audiophiles. It's for people with no installation abilities that like listening to music, but don't want to go to the trouble to have something really good installed. Just my $.02. Sorry you didn't listen to it before you got it.

actually, the sub is tied in to the front speakers
for a week straight after i baught the SRT i kept trying to find out how to
adjust the subwoofer levels ,little did i know...
well..the sub box isn't completly worthless, one could replace the sub
with a stronger one (500-600 watts) and add an external amp
for that extra thump
Bean counters at DCX speced out the headunit, not Kicker. Kicker doesn't make head units.
Bean counters at DCX speced out the 6 disc changer to be included. Kicker did not spect that changer into the system.
Kicker appears to have spec'ed in the KS series components up front, and KS coaxials in the rear.
The whole "is it worth it" thing has been beat to death, in the end, it always turns out that it "is worth it", so I'm not going to waste my effort recreating old threads.
The new thought in this thread though, is that the system is weak. That all depends on your definition of weak I suppose. If "weak" means not loud enough to rumble the car next to you, our your own sheetmetal for that matter, you're right, it's weak. It was never meant to do that, you could never justify the cost markup when DCX resold it to you when you factor in that the majority of the people who would want to rumble the car next to them are financing their cars for 5 or more years as it is.
However, it does sound pretty damn good. We'll have SPL and Real Time Analysis competitions at Nationals. It won't be hard to beat the OEM kicker system in the SPL portion, an energetic fart could probably do that, but it will take the efforts of people like Got Wake and much more than $750 invested to walk away with the award for the cleanest response signal.
Okay, I admit it, this is just a shameless plug for Nationals. We have confirmed a 'no rules' audio competition with a simple format.
Data collection from inside the car, no limits on power, signal processing, or anything else.
Just like a dyno competition, biggest numbers win the SPL portion, and the best response wins the RTA portion. Unlike the dyno competiton, there will be no cost for this competition in an effort to bring audio to Nationals.
Classes can be created at the event if people want them, but for now, we'll just be looking at growing this portion of the event.
For those unlucky people who are not Got Wake, there will be other pros there to help you dial in your system for the competition, and you can even take those settings home with you if you want.
We chose not to follow a strict IASCA or other governing body format to keep costs down, get people involved, and make it easier for the guy who built his own system to compete.
Kicker is sponsoring this part of the event by providing the equipment to make the measurements, power for the equipment, and somebody to interpret the equipment. They are also there to help you with your system, Kicker or not, to get the most out of it. They will also provide prizes and giveaways, for those who want them, at no cost to the event.
Yes, we'll be looking for a non-kicker volunteer to keep an eye on the measurement and interpretation to avoid any potentail bias, or claims of bias.
This is a pretty good opportunity. If the competition goes off well, we can look at expanding it in the future, and because we control it, it can move in any direction the enthusiasts want it to move.
This section, audio/visual, is an important part of SRTforums, so we want to make sure it is represented at Nationals. You aren't the red-headed stepchildren of the SRT world just because you add a little weight to the car.
Input and feedback is greatly appreciated, we can tailor the event to whatever we want it to be.
Regards,
Dale
