Well, im in the midst of changing my shift selector, but when I disconnect my battery my python alarm system goes off. The alarm was on the car when I bought it, I have no clue how to disconnect or stop it from going off. Help me out because I need to get my car running asap! Thanks in advance.
Wait, so you need help shutting off the alarm or getting your car to run? I know with the viper alarm I can shut it off using the valet button, but I have no idea how the pythons work.
Just help with shutting the alarm off. As soon as the battery becomes disconnected it goes crazy, and the battery has too come out to change my shift selector. Don't want to have the alarm going off the whole time.
you have a back-up battery installed in your car...problem is installers hide them for the very reason that if a thief is trying to kill your alarm by pulling the battery, the system recognizes this and either keeps the alarm going off or sets it off. Not sure why your alarm is going off if its disarmed. Look under your dash for possibly some wires leading to your alarm brain. You would be looking for a red wire (with most likely a blue fuse) or a blue wire running towards or from the ignition harness. Pull the fuse and you should be all set.
Did you get a remote to arm/disarm the alarm or no?
Have you looked under your dash to try and find the alarm brain?

^^ Hey man, I remember you helping me awhile ago with this problem. I did the whole valet switch thing you said, and it didn't work, tried numerous times. I honestly wouldn't know what to look for, theres also wires run for the amp that came with my car aswell, has a different boost gauge too. Its a mess. I absolutely hate the damn alarm, alot more trouble than its worth imo. Would pics help? I can post a couple up if so. I do have the key fob for the python but, it doesnt work, go figure.
if you were to take the shroud around the steering column and underdash off you would see a large bundle of wires heading up the bottom side of the column to the ign switch. You should be looking for a red wire (about 14-16AWG or about the diameter of the ink tube inside a ballpoint pen) tapped into the pink/black or red wire(s) (the constant 12v wires)in the ignition harness. If you can find it, cut it and properly terminate it (you don't want to short out your main ign power i promise) or better yet pull the fuse if you can trace back and see it. It should be connected to a black battery pack about 4"x3"x.75" and a small clear plastic box. That whole assembly is the battery backup module.
Alternately, change the battery in the remote and reprogram it to the alarm.
1. Open drivers door.
2. Turn key to "ON" (not start).
3. Press and release the Valet button once then press and hold it.
4. Press the lock button on your remote. (The alarm should respond with a quick chirp letting you know it rec'd the signal.)
5. Remove key and enjoy your new alarm
Matt, I don't think he's got the battery back up system that runs the whole alarm but instead has the cheaper version where it's on the siren itself. Jaysin, you should have strange looking key that looks like the kind used on pop machines. If so, find the siren. There should be a rubber cover on the side of it where that key goes. Just turn it one way or the other and you'll be fine. If you can't find the key, the only other option is to have a bucket of water, rip out the siren and dump it into the bucket.

98% of all DEI alarms have the same parts/componets/programing so what you can do say with an Automate alarm you can do the same with a Python or Viper and even a Sidewinder and Hornet. The only differences are the covers on the alarm brains and remotes.
thanks...actually that would make more sense. I just hate those damn things so I won't even order them anymore. LOL @ bucket of water, I've used that as well as just a big fuggn hammer in the past.
I found the Siren, its behind my back drivers side wheel, like below the trunk. Theres about 4-5 wires running to it all wrapped in electrical tape, and I don't have that key to turn it off, but I see where one could go. So what do I do? Just cut all the wires? Just yank the siren out? Thanks.
yes, just cut the wires (individually) and terminate them, then unbolt the siren and throw it as far as you can lol. Be forewarned that it has an onboard battery and will continue to go off until that has died so your best course of action literally would be throwing it in a bucket of water.
Update, I did cut the wires and threw away the siren. Damn thing is more trouble than its worth, thanks everyone for the help. I can now start on the shift selector and get the car running like it should again.
