Best RADAR DETECTOR???

I am looking to get a Radar Detector for Christmas. What is the BEST RADAR DETECTOR, PERIOD. I am thinking of getting the VALENTINE1. Its like $399 but I have a friend who has one and it is awesome. Anybody have any personal experiences with some GOOD radar detectors?

I like the X50 more then the v1, because it reads signal farther, and the distance means more to me then the arrows because I brake instantly anyway.

It would be nice to have both. I always thought the v1 was kinda.. ugly

So far I'm happy with the v1 for christ's sake you get the signal before you can even possibly see the LEO anyway how much farther could you possibly want it? I've had it pick up Ka band from about mile away.

Dont waste $$ on a Val 1, The fact is your paying ~$150+ more for some arrow indicators and a name. All the reviews suggest Escort 8500 X50. $250 I just read all the reviews and bought the 8500 a month ago, and I like. Saved me 1 for 1 so far. But, if you have a very large ego and your the person at a party who always name drops, just so they sound important, when everyone laughs at you behind your back, then get a Val 1.
But in reality I could just be a saleman working at Escort, Inc.

Here is a test that guys of lidar did on the popular radar detectors. As you can see, the V1 pwns them all. Also the V1 tells you how many LEO's there are incase one is sitting in a shopping center, if it says "2" you know to look out. I'm not sure if the x50 does that or not. The x50 is definetely the best for the price, and I think that's why it gets it's reviews.

While some may be better then others and will save you, don't think you won't get busted at some point in time. Laser will get you and driving on curvey country roads with radar coming at you that can't be seen on a curve; you'll be caught.

Funny you say that. It's true. I got busted 2 days after I got my V1. But the V1 is good at detecting curvy situations. I've seen it work. I got popped with an instant on comming over a hill. The cop has to have the radar on for you're shit to work. If he doesn't then you're $400 v1 is a rock.

Yea, but Laser detection without a Laser Jammer and Veil Coating is just a big "YOUR FUCKED" sign.

I have owned both the X50 and the V1. At times I miss the X50 (was stolen), but I love the V1 at the same time. The arrows do actually come in handy at times, although if you know your detector enough they are not really necessary. You can't go wrong with either one really, they are both real, real good detectors.

I have wondered about the veil coating as far as if it changes the color (tint) of your headlights and license plate, and how long an application stays on (regarding washing car frequently)?

I have also been wondering the same thing, I have been doing research, but not that extensive yet. Go here www.radardetector.net
