Im bout to install replacement speakers with a 4 channel amp was wondering were you guys with the smaller amps are mounting them. I was thinking under the seat but might be a lil tight. just looking for ideas.
crap. I was hoping to avoid an epic wire fest when I installed replacement speakers in the door by not having to trunk both my amps.

are you planning on running all new wire? factory wiring is absolutely fine until you start pushing tons of power through it. just be neat with your wiring using zipties and wire loom and it shouldn't be too bad at all. Buy a 4 ch with some sort of cover over the connections and run your wires underneath seatback fabric and through a hole under the cover.
I ended up picking up a jbl 4-channel amp, so ill stash her in the trunk with the rest of my gear. guess that means i could just pull the factory wire thruwith the new stuff taped to it to make things easy?
The other thing I guess i could do if the factory wire is fine is just run my front speaker wires to the head unit and attach them to the factory wires there.
is there sufficiant room under the floor trim to hide a beefy power cable on one side and 3 pre-out cables on the other with speakerwire?
cant wait to finish my system. I installed JBL speakers in the back and they sound great, cant wait to hear it all around.

there is plenty of room. I have runs of 12awg speaker wire running along my 2awg power wire down the drivers side and the 3 RCAs down the other. If you are going to keep factory wiring make it easy on yourself and wire behind the radio. Wire FL to the RL and FR to RR wires (car side of the harness) behind the radio effectively extending the front speaker wires all the way to the trunk for you. This way you just hook your rear speaker wires (factory) to your front outputs and just run new speaker wires to the rears.
total threadjack, i know... sorry. That sounds like a really good idea, except wont having 2 splices in *possibly* inferior factory wire harm sound quality? my jbl 6.5's i bought will run 80w RMS via my 4 channel amp.
PS, i liked the Idea of mounting the amp on the rear of my back seats so much i gave it a try. I have to say im impressed. dunno why i never thought of that before.
factory speaker wiring in the car is plenty sufficient for running a simple 4 channel. Any degradation due to extra resistance in wire would be so minimal you wouldn't be able to tell. Having said that, if you really want to go the extra mile and plan on getting the best sound that you can out of your car, run new 16AWG (or larger) wire to each speaker and solder all connections.
I ended up using the 16 guage wire i had and with a little modification *drilling* of the wire plug in the door electronics connector it was actually suprisingly easy to re-wire the fronts.
The posted front door guide was very useful in assisting me.
Everything sounds great and i didnt have to bugger the stock wires. the rubber weather guards were kinda tricky to get back on the door right but all eventually fell into place.
im running power wires down the left side and speaker/preout cables down the right.
Im really happy with the amp placement on the back seat. the plastic plate under the carpet holds screws really good. easy to get to for tuning too.
