Default Aftermarket resplacement question

I had one of those Infinity 10 inch woofers with the amp built into it. It was basically an entire unit. It worked well but something inside of the unit broke and the system no longer works anymore. Anyways, I have the ground, power, remote and the appropriate headunit connectors still routed to the trunk. My question is if I get a REAL subwoofer and amp, I should just be able to hook the currently routed power, remote, ground and headunit connectors to the amp, and then just wire the amp to the woofer, right? The wiring is still good, I just don't know if I'll need anything else. Thanks.

in theory, yes that will work. i don't know what kind of requirements those infinity systems have, but so long as the power/ground gauge is big enough to satisfy your new amp you should be ok.

Well I won't be getting anything dramatic - just a 10" woofer and maybe a 500w amplifyer. Just a little additional bass for my alternative music. I don't want a bangin' system

like i said it will depend on the new amp you buy. i had a cadence amp that did 600 x 1 @ 4 and only required 8g. i also had a pdx 1.600 that was the same power but required 4g.

Do amps have a gauge recommendation on them when you buy them that you can see for reference? If that's the case then I'll just run an amp appropriate for the gauge wiring I already have in place. Running new power wires wouldn't be a huge deal, though, if I had to. JW.

just take a look at the manual online for whatever amp you want to run. it will tell you.
