Fucking excited to say the least! Well i put it together per instructions and instructional DVD that came with my nikon bag, but still have questions. I want to take some photos of my dads challenger and frame them for fathers day, but i dont really know how to work it. So...my questions are:

What do you guys edit with? Do you use the nikon program that came with the camera or some form of photo shop? What verison do you use if so?

What setting should i shoot on? Pretty much all the shots are going to be still shots, some with a city skyline behind them and others with a closer background like a big building...

Bascily any help would be great, im going to head out and snap some shots tonight in a couple of locations then if you guys could critique them and tell me how to make them better that would be super.

yea post up some images to get some help. Most peeps here use photosho version CS through CS4. Any of those are good. I recommend adobe Lightroom 1 or 2. And use photoshop for design down the road.

as always take lots of pictures, read the manual thoroughly and get your hands on any book by Scott Kelby.

Keep the ISO rating down on the D40!
play with Fstop.
and last hint.. don't make photo's with the subject (dad's challenger) in the middle! keep it on 1/3 of the frame...

shoot over 200 pic's and there will be some nice pic's in there

good luck!

...and on the editing, post your pic's here or in the photoshop "srtforums...../f21" and ask for a quick touch up... i'm sure there will be some guy's that want to help you out
