I just got my nikon D40 and after a couple of hours of shooting i realised i could benefit from a different lense for certain shots. We have a lake with lots of wild life in my apt complex. With the 18-55mm lense that came with the d40 we cant really get close enough to get a good shot before the animals move on...In particular theres a bunch of huge bull frogs that would make for great shots but i cant get close enough. So i chcked on craigslist and found this "Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm 1.4-5.6G ED." I know the AF-S is good, I know the 200mm would be great(18-200mm would be more ideal imo but more expensive), but idont know about the 1.4-5.6G ED??? What is that? How will it help me? It was listed at 140, i haggeled down to 110. Good deal(said it was used for only 3 weeks)???
Im a amateur at best here is some of our shots:
1. Dog
2. Dog
3. Ducks (i would like to get a tad closer)
4. Dog and Ducks

The purpose of ignition advance is to account for the lag time following spark ignition for combustion pressure to peak at 15 degrees AFTER TOP DEAD CENTER. A little fyi !
Actually it was just under $600 before the price hike. I dont ever remember it being a grand but I could be wrong.
What it was is that it use to be that this lens was hardly in stock.. and places gouged the prices up... Atleast that was the case when I first looked into getting one.
