Hey guys. I'm getting a little bonus from work, so I thought I would finally break down and buy myself a dslr. I have been tossing the idea around for a while now, but I've decided to just go ahead and get one. I am not familiar with them at all, and won't be doing anything professional. In fact I probably won't ever get any pics printed out. So I didn't want want to spent a huge pile of cash on something that I wouldn't use to it's full potential. So I pretty much had my mind set on the d40, but doing some reading around and I have come to the conclussion that it may stop being produced soon. I'm thinking it may be soon replaced with the d3000. I may be wrong about all that though, but anyways, would it be worth the extra 150 to go ahead and buy the d3000, or will the d40 be sufficient for my noobness? If I should buy the 3000, then that would put me in the same price range as the canon eos digital rebel x camera. So which one between those 2? So basically I've narrowed it down to the d40, d3000, and the canon. What would be the best beginner camera?

as far as being a first DLSR...I love my D40! I just started really getting into photography this year. When I decided to break down, and spend the money to try the whole DSLR, I choose the D40, because I figured might as well go cheaper, since I have no idea how far I will run with this thing. And I have not been disappointed, yet.
