Default Any Canon 5D Mark II users on here?

I'm considering buying this camera soon and just want to see some images some of you might of taken with it and also hear your thoughts about it. I've read all the reviews and have seen some gorgeous movies and images taken with it but I'm thirsty for more heh. Also can this camera except old school 35mm Canon lenses? Has anyone on here ever bought from AMDV.com before?

I'm not brand loyal to anything really (cars, bikes, cameras, etc). I have a Nikon DSLR and a Canon SLR if that tells you anything hehe.

But I need a new HD camcorder and I'd like to upgrade in camera so the Canon fits both those needs. D300s doesn't compare even though it's much cheaper. The 720p is a big drawback to me .

Only bad thing is Canon lenses are rediculously expensive and in order to use the ultra high resolution of the Canon 5D MII it's suggested you use primo lenses to match it. I'm more so getting it, or wanting to get it I should say, for video/film but also use as a DSLR. The 1080p vids out on the web look fantastic with this camera and some PP!

I love this vid of the 5D MkII using a CZ Distagon YouTube - Canon 5D mark II test footage View of the Bumblebee Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 28mm 2.8

This is a nice one too YouTube - Santa Monica Sunrise - Canon 5D Mark II Sample Movie

Then again this Canon HF s100 looks pretty good for camcorder and editing (very film-like) YouTube - Canon LEGRIA HF S100 25p Cinema Mode Test

Be sure to watch in HD.

To my knowledge... and skills can say yes or no here...

But the AF during the video you either A, have to focus yourself.. or B keep tapping the shutter button..

im gonna eventually get a DSLR with video... in like 2 years when Sony has it perfected lol

for my HD video I got my dad to buy a Sony HX1. its pretty spiffy. I wouldnt judge DSLRs right now on their video quality though. :-\ in my world.. thats just not a deciding factor.

You have to manually focus, but it does have a live face recognition (to which i'm still unsure how to get it to work properly). I am getting better at taking video with it, but it can be a pain sometimes. I'm sure if i read up more i could utilize it better. There are training videos out there and some info to read up on.
EDIT*Manually focus is used loosely here ....

Let me know if you want to know anything specific. I am unsure about the old 35mm cam lenses. Yes, canon has expensive lenses, but that's because that's what canon excels in. If you want flash control, go nikon.

See, I just assumed you would want to keep up with the fast action of your new child. Which hell... it might do.. just seems like it would be a pain in the ass.

Im the kind of guy that would much rather buy 2 things and use them for their specific purposes. Video in DSLR's hasn't came far enough to be a deciding factor for me at all. I could honestly care less... and would much rather have more photography oriented features.

Video wasn't the deciding factor me on this camera. This thing is a beast for photography and i needed to finally go full frame and that's what settled me. It was the logical choice ... cheap for a camera that packs this type of punch.

The video is just a plus ... if you are looking to shoot strictly video then don't buy this camera because that's not what it's for. However, it has the capability to produce some amazing footage when used right.

^^^Yup that pretty much sums up my reasoning too. I guess I should of clarified. I shoot more pics than vid and the camera will be used as such.

I don't shoot enough vid to warrant spening a grand on just a camcorder that will collect dust most of the time. I have a GoPro HD ordered that will be used on the bike and helmet which most of my filming will be used for.

The 1080p HD vid of the 5D MkII is as mentioned, a nice added bonus. The high level of resolution this full frame camera can acheive in photos is very attractive. Just have to have the lenses to back it up and use it to its potential.
