Default Active D-Lighting

So, today I decided to do a test with the Active D-Lighting. My main reason for doing this is that a lot of my pictures seemed to not have the contrast that I am use to seeing... Then I started thinking about how the d-lighting could be causing some of this.

Pictures aren't great... But no need to be for the test.

None

Low

Normal

High

Like I said.. not a wonderful picture, but it gives you a sense of how its working.

Mine is set to off. I get too much noise when I am trying to shoot indoor sports with it on.
