Default TOB Fork Help!!!

About a month ago when the weather started getting warmer, I started having problems shifting. It was really hard to get it in 1st and reverse. It got to be so bad that I brought it to the dealership. They told me my clutch was done. They replaced the clutch, master cylinder, slave cylinder and TOB. I asked them about the TOB Fork since I read that these would wear out as well. They told me it was in good condition and did not need to be changed.$2700 and a month later my shifting issues are starting up again. It seems to only happen when its hot out and I've been driving a lot. When its cold out it shifts like butter.Does this sound like a TOB Fork issue ? If so how much should it cost to have a new one intalled (not at the stealership).

Yea recently had the same problem, i replaced my TOB fork and night and day difference. I got mine from PTP for 179 or thay r 175 at the dealer. The PTP one gets a cyro treatment so they r better than the stocks ones, they r outta stock at ptp right now but they will prolly have some soon.

Try adjusting the clutch before going through all that.

I am having the same problem right now. I have the clutch adjusted all the way out right now. Worked great for about 6 months and now it is starting to do it again. I do have 90,000 miles on the stock clutch now so it's about time to change it.

Default TOB Fork

Tried adjusting the pedal and crossover cable already . Didn't change anything. I might as well get the Ptperformance TOB Fork and change get the Pivot joint change at the same time.

TOB should ALWAYS be changed with the clutch. People also recommend changing the tob (clutch release) fork as well with every clutch swap.

I had a tough time shifting and a clutch adjustment helped, changing the tranny fluid helps too. My TOB fork was only maybe 1/2 way worn down after 137,000 miles. I think the little TOB tabs break off, causing the TOB to bounce around, they are pretty flimsy. I do know that a tiny adjustment on the pedal has made quite a difference

What do you have to do to change the TOB fork ? I am not planning to change the clutch at this time.

My transmission with about 67k miles in it had an abundance of ware on the fork:

Notice the nice grooves on the new one by S&P. My old unit didn't have any. This was causing the TOB to be engaged unevenly, and it even ended up breaking one of the tabs off the TOB that I found rolling around at the bottom of the bellhousing when I did my clutch job. My pivot ball also just fell right out upon removing my clutch release fork. Doh! Good thing S&P sends you one with their forks!

Transmission must be taken out, clutch must be removed and then you can get to the fork. The fork is what the TOB sits on and slides in when the slave cylinder is engaged using the clutch.

I can say changing my clutch release fork made a world of difference in my shifts. Very smooth now, and no more 1st and 3rd gear bitch-fests trying to get it into gear.

I am having the exact same issues as well, only happens after driving for a while, and it is especially hard to get in to gear when the A/C is on. In fact its even hard to get OUT of gear and go in to neutral! I bought some GM Syncromesh tranny fluid so i will begin by replacing that, if that doesnt do anything i will try adjusting out the clutch pedal.
