I've done this before, but now with the car being 5 yrs old, are there more precautions I should take?
Is it best to fill up my tank and put fuel stabalizer?
Over-inflate the tires to avoid flat spots?
What about the hand brake, should I apply the handbrake, or do I risk it seizing up on me after a long period of time not using it?
I've started up my car from just 2 weeks of not driving it (stored in my non-heated garage), and it ran pretty rough for about a minute. Is this because of moisture in the tank? I do not have a lot of gas in my tank.
I have at least 1/2 a tank of gas with stabilizer. Inflate the tires 40-45psi and I do not use the ebrake. I start it every 2 weeks on Friday and let it run for 15 minutes. Sometimes i'll drive it back and forth on my driveway (depending on the ice and snow) so it has a chance to move.
I don't mind the smell in the spring, it's the smell of excitement when I can finally drive it again.
-full tank of gas + stabilizer.
-remove the battery from the car and keep it inside the house, if you re keeping it in the basement, keep it off the basement floor or put an inch of wood underneath the battery.
-e brake off
-slightly over inflate the tires, if you have another set of tires to put on rather than your good set of wheels.
-baking soda in the cabin and in the trunk.
-dont touch the car, leave it be till the spring.
Move to Vancouver and drive your car all year long
Yeah, cause that worked out so well for you guys last year.
Said before, but I'll say it again because here is what I'm doing:
1. 3/4-full tank + stabilizer.
2. Recent oil change (or decent oil).
3. Top up all critical fluids (wiper fluid doesn't count).
4. Inflate tires to 40-50psi. Check often for slow leaks, move 'er out into the drive way every month and get the tires resting on new spots.
5. Remove battery + store inside on cardboard.
6. Wood chips / charcoal in the trunk and small container of chips on the back floor.
7. Leave in gear, no e-brake.

Yes, last year was godawful. So much so I now have a Jeep w/ nokians for the winter, but watch there be no snow this year! I certainly wouldnt miss having to dig out half of my residential street just to get onto the main roads
I'm storing the car for the first time this winter because I'll have a winter car. I was thinking about putting this in the cabin and trunk. It pulls moisture out of the air and that just drips down into the cup. D A M P R I D - The Original Non-Electric Moisture Absorber
