Default For sale: 225/45/17s. Canadian $$.

Hankook Ventus Sport K104s x4 *** NO LONGER FOR SALE - skip down to post #9"

225/45/17s 94Y.
280/AA/A

I bought them new. I have since clocked 1200kms on them - 90% highway.

Because I was (please note WAS) gullible, I bought them without anyone telling me they are the wrong size for the stock SRT-4 rims. These are for 7"+ rims - so if you have stock SRT-4 rims... sure you can buy them but I am not responsible if they come off at speed. The place I bought them from is feigning ignorance and won't exchange them for me... so I'm boned.

"I want the 205/50/17s." "225s are on sale!" "Ummm.. ok?"

They are quiet as a whisper, handle like a dream and look damned good. I repeat - the road noise is practically NON-EXISTANT.

I have not had a single problem with them - except for the fact that they are "out of spec" for a 17x6 inch rim. Everyone and their dog is telling me 225 on 6" BAD! NAPSTER BAD! So, that's why they're 4 sale. Which pisses me of because I really like 'em. I can't tell there's anything wrong with them... but engineers know best, right?

By the way - I have done no burnouts, launches or other nasty stuff on these. I had intended them to last as long as possible.

I am asking $550 - which will include shipping anywhere in Canada. So, that means I'm actually selling them for $475 and paying about $75 shipping. If you can get a sweet-ass deal on shipping (like your uncle is a snow pilot for the arctic weather stations).. then they're yours for $475. $475 sounds good. Fine.

$475 plus shipping. Canadian. However, if you wish to pay $475 in USD... I won't complain.

PMs appreciated. If the guy who sold them to me decides to be a sweetheart and exchange them, this sale shall be nullified. Considering I had a good experience with them and told them about the forums and suggested they become a supporting vendor... I'm still hoping they'll cut me a break.

More information about the 104s at Hankook's site can be found here.

And please don't make too much fun of my ignorance - I am already feeling pretty stupid as it is.

Really? 225s on your stock SRT rims? You'd better not be sh*tting me

I'm not going to autocross anytime soon - but yes, pics would be cool.

You have a 6" wide rim then? How are they working for you?

Yeah they are.

That's why I'm at such a loss - they ride great, handle great, sound great, look great...

...but "they're not designed for a 6" rim".

I just don't want the tires to fail, my car to get totaled (or worse yet, anyone get hurt) and insurance to say "sorry - wrong tires for the rims", and then I foot the bill. I had trouble sleeping last night - this is bothering me a lot. Especially since I ferry my kids all over hell and back in the SRT.

The online guy is not helping one damned bit - and I'm hesitant to get a set of 205/50/17s from him even though they're a kickass price.

So far I'm out the price of the tires, install, and now new tires and install.

Not happy.

EDIT*** Just got off the phone with the online guy (www.tiretrends.com) and he's trying to get a hold of the Hankook rep to see if we DO have a safety issue here - and although I'm probably on the hook for selling the 225s they will do "what they can" to make sure this gets sorted out. I told him about the potential sales they can have here (10,000 members man!) and hopefully they'll set an exceptional standard for customer service for us Canadian folks. Hopefully. We shall see. ****

Update:

After a few discussions on the phone, the guys @ TireTrends.com are sending me Kumho Ecsta ASX's (4), 205/50/17 to replace the Hankooks. I am paying the shipping to send the Hankooks back, then they will stick a credit on my Visa FOR THE FULL AMOUNT. So, even though I am paying for the Kumho's, they are taking the Hankooks back and refunding me the full amount, despite the tires having 1200kms on them.

We both admitted our flub - my ignorance of all things tires, and their assumption that I was running aftermarket 7" instead of skinny 6" OE rims.

So, I will keep you guys updated on the progress - but it looks like all will turn out OK. I already have three guys on the back-burner waiting to buy rubber from TireTrends.com... so let's all cross our fingers and see how the exchange goes.
