Default New Comer to Canada

Hey guys, i'll be flying over to "Lacombe, AB Canada" from Maryland for school.
I've never been farther in Canada other then like Toronto so i'm extremely unfamiliar with the whole move

My residence is in Maryland so unfortunatley i'll be leaving my car behind at my parents house. Sad yes but thats like a 3000mile drive

Any car guys in the area? Lol how cold does it actually get up there?
Is there anything I can look forward to?
Or is this place not as bad as i'm making it out to be

Welcome to Canada... winters here are no biggie, average temp from Jan to march a slightly chilly -45F but then you have to factor the wind chill into that!
LOL kiddin man, we get a few days that DO get cold, but nothing special, trick is to dress up in layers, last year it was a pain in the ass because of all the snow we got=shovelling.
I'm not really a winter guy,so I don't get into outside sports, but if you're into ice hockey, skating, sking ect you'll do just fine.
As far as jackets are concerned, I stick with a goose down jacket, not much gets past those jackets, "Eddie Bauer" is the store of choice for these type of clothing, anywhere from $150/$250
Enjoy your stay, there's tons of things to do here in Toronto during the winter months.

Well, welcome to Alberta man. I'm about 4 hours south of you, to bad you couldn't bring the wheels with ya. What are you taking for school? You'll get to like it I think, just a little colder in the winters.
