I've been thinking about getting some new headlights for my SRT4.I looked on Modern Performance site and seen the Depo projector black headlights that I liked.
Any of you guys have these headlights? quality, do they leak? Anything I should know about them before I buy? They also offer NOKYA H7 super white 70 watt bulbs, the standard bulb that they come with is I think 55 watts.
Got this info from their site about these headlights:
"Depo, a OEM light manufacturer, and the WORLDS largest aftermarket light producer, has designed a new set of headlights for the 03-05 Dodge Neon and 03-05 Dodge SRT4.
This is great news, because we have had great success with this brand, and the quality of lights they produce is very good!
These headlights are a complete replacement for the factory lights, and come preinstalled with new headlight gasket surrounds. These are a direct replacement, and require no cutting, no modification to your car to install.
The low beam is a projector light, that produces a razor sharp light output. The high beam uses a standard reflector. Both low beam and high beam have bulbs preinstalled. You simply connect your factory headlight wiring to these and they will begin working immediately.
Both low beam and high beam use a H7 55 watt bulb."
Its a tough choice mario, I have never really been a big fan or those headlights but thats me. I actually like your black housing headlights you have now better, but it appears that they have cleaned up those projector headlights a little bit.
Looks like they got rid of that LED signal they use to have. The one concern I have with aftermarket headlight is how well they are sealed, some are awsome and some leak like crazy. Another thing that could be a problem with those lights is how is it gonna output light with an eyelid on it cause eyelids on srt4s is sexy. It kinda appears that with an eyelid on it may cover the signal light or cover part of the inner projector, hard to say though cause you cant really tell.
I dont know if this really helps you or not but if you do end up goin with them I am calling a dibs on ur black housing ones you got now if your will to sell lol
03 black housings are ftw,but my buddy has the depo headlights and one leaks and has condensation in it and hes also said they dont light the road as good as he would want them, but maybe he just bought a bad set idk if theres any others with that proub.
Thanks for the thoughts Paul, I actually printed the headlights, then cut up some red glossy paper I had lying around to see how the eyelids actually work, I traced the actual eyelids I have on my lights then literally reduced the trace to the exact size to fit the new headlights, and there was no blockage at all, the signal bulb sits low enough in it's housing that allows "S" type eyelids to not block out any part of it, not sure if they were designed with this in mind, but I was not going to take any chances.
My greatest concern(s) is leakage(moisture) and seeing a repeat of what happened to the currant ones I have on my car, the UV protective film is looking like sh*t, peeling in sections, and looking pretty crappy when the lights are on.
If I remember correctly, Mike (Viper JR ) has the same lights I have now.He was showing me this headlight tint film he put on his when they were new, and they still look new!!!
I was talking to Chris today and he mentioned some kind of refinishing kit out there that would restore my headlight lenses, but not sure where to get it or how to use it.
I love the ones I have on my ride, they just look like hell right now, and this is the REAL reason I want to change them. Maybe you can refinish them for me Paul for a reasonable price... if you could, I much rather go that route, let me know what you think.
Regards Mario
Yea for sure, I am planning on coming up your way this weekend maybe Friday night or early Saturday morning. I will bring some stuff n a few tricks n see if we can't get those headlights lookin new again.
You're da man Paul, lemme know, in a pinch I can have them removed and ready, dinner's on me so's all the brew you can drink. Just remember I have no pro polisher, just a Canadian Tire flyer special LOL,lemme know man. Thank you Paul!
most of the aftermarket headlight dont have the quality of the OEM lights
the rubber gaskets around the lights dont last nearly as long they leak and dont stay as clear nearly as long
I had those in 1 of my SRT4's and the gaskets were all cracked after 6 months not even winter driven
If you plan on keeping your car then buy the OEM lights and put good bulbs in them Ya I know way more money bit Im sure yours are 5 years old now
plan on the aftermarket 1s looking like that this time next year

I'm with ya steve, the rubber gaskets are garbage, the ones I have on my aftemarket lights are the ones off my stockers...I still have the stockers in a box, almost brand new, and you're right, made way way better, especially when it comes to the lenses.
Companies need to step up to the plate and start making reputable quality parts, most would pay to get the "REAL DEAL" then this garbage we have to put up with for cheaper$$$
I wasn't too impressed with the depot headlights; a local car has them, and their light output is poor, and the gaskets are shot to hell.

I got these lights and im not a big fan, they look nice, but they are a little smaller than the stock headlights so you will have a gap around them, even with the stock headlight rubber seal it still have a gap around them. Also my right side one soaks a little bit of water when it rains and fogs up and its been like that since brand new.
