Default is going 3" Exhaust from 2.5" borla on a stage 3 worth the money?

Hey Guys,

I've been debating lately whether or not to get 3" exhaust... the following is my exhaust setup already.

Stage 3 Turbo w. Toys
3" o2 housing - > 3" Downpipe w. H/F Cat -> 2.5" Exhaust

Would it be really worth the money to go 3" ?

Would appreciate the feedback.

Cheers,

Derick

NO

I would change out your DP for one with an electronic cutout and call it a day. In the end you will save $$$ and gain more WHP then a full 3'' exhaust.

Do you take it to the track?

If not it probably doesn't matter much... and either way, if you get a Downpipe with a cutout like Canadian said, running that would be just as effective and much cheaper.

Only problem there is a Cutout is LOUD, so its not really street smart, but fine for the track.

That's whats on my car right now. Had the 2.5" catback on stock dp, upgraded to s3 and got a nice deal on Needwings V6 dp w/ cutout and 3" o2 housing. IMO, if you do go this route, make sure you get the exhaust shop to cut out the 2 1/4" bottle neck; it is VERY loud and VERY poppy without the bottleneck cut.

Too loud and too crackly for me, I'll get the bottleneck cut & rewelded eventually.

just wondering how loud the cutout is closed? i can't imagine that it will make a really good seal so it must still allow some sound through.
