I would assume a dyno tune would get the full picture and get a more precise tune down, but I know we have some really good "mail order" data log tuners here. ie: (TDS guys/ PTP guys)
Any one have experience doing both first going mail order then deciding to get a dyno tune?

the only reason i'm leaning towards a dyno tune is that I need the cams tuned as well as a race gas tune. I don't see how I can do a race gas tune on the street with nearly 30 psi on street tires. Even if I did it in 4th gear i'd probably be at 140 at the top of 4th. hell with that
Mail order tunes can often be a pain when troubleshooting is involved. We have ran into several issues with guys that we could have figured out in a few mins if the car was actually in front of us. We would love to only do in-house tunes, but we understand that a lot of people just can't do it, especially when the customer is from Cali or Canada, or even Europe and the surrounding areas.

Like Turbo666 said troublshooting becomes a nightmare when you don't have the car in front of you and what your perception of a good tune is and what most good tuners perceptions of a good tune is normally quite different. Not to mention tuning the car on the dyno is the "correct" way of doing it for numerous reasons.
There's a lot more that goes into tuning other than just some peak number.

oh I understand that completely. I don't care much for the peak number, i am more interested in power band.

If your dyno tune operator has tuned the DSP on the SRT4, then that is the best way to go. If not, you could get a screwed tune and struggle with it until one of the email tuning people get you tuned. It can fall either way, we have seen pretty good numbers with just an email tune, we have seen even better numbers with a dyno tune. I guess, if I could get the car on the dyno after sending an email tune that would be the only way to tell if there was more to get out of the car, vs what they got with the email tune.
