Question Stage 2 with DSP going crazy

Ok, I'm posting this for a friend of mine. I went with him to do some pulls/logs...and this is what happened.

We did two pulls, both pulls were exactly the same. Starting in 3rd gear in both pulls, a/f jump up to 12.5 and stay above 12. Starts to knock like crazy, and rises as the rpm's rise. Once in 4th, everything settles down. A/f's drop down to high 10's low 11's, no knock, and the car really moves then. Boost, his gauge says 20 drops to 15 to redline.

Any ideas on why this is going on? Mods are full stage 2 w/o toys, 3" downpipe (catless), mopar exhaust, AGP wga off pcm controlled boost, cold air intake, fuel pump rewire, i believe that's it.

Id say take the 93 tune off the car and just run the modified stock s2 tune. Then make adjustments on the stock s2 tune.

1) ACT and Ambeint temps are unrealistically HOT. I presume he's using a pos Hot Air intake. I'd get them to more reasonable/correct levels.

2) Why aren't you using the 9r18?

3) 3rd gear Openloop F/A is at the 93tune "stock" level of 11.77 but COT is kicking in in 4th(when EGT over 1740) and droping the OLFA and dumping fuel so the Knock goes away.

Update to the 9r18 tune and add enough fuel(~5%) to keep the reported A/F under 12.0 and you'll be fine.

Not the best idea.

The 93 tune can be tweeked in this case to work very well.

I think he does have a short ram, I'll have to ask though.

He's using the 9r17 crom, COT has not been turned off or anything of the sort. i told him to update to the 9r18 and we'll take it from there. Not sure if he's done it.

Just wondering what advantages a s2 car would have running a modified 93 tune vs a modified s2 tune. I thought the 93 tune works better on a s0 pcm?

There are more significant changes to the S0/S1 PCM with the 93tune than with a S2 but there are several changes to all PCMs that the end user does not direct see. Sensor limits, Airflow limits, Torque modifiers and limiters, ect.

Imo there is value in using a 93tune as a base to apply your desired changes to than the stock S2 tune.

Intersting. Does those changes effect a s2 with toys on hom?
