can you use any data cable to download updates and tunes to the Diablo?
as long as it connect correct?
and how do you download updates?
reason i ask is because when i try to install a tune the diablo says i need need an update, and radioshack the cable...
As long as it's serial on one end, given that the Predator has a serial female serial port. A serial-to-serial should work, as should a USB-to-serial work. Just make sure it's compatible with your operating system. IE. there are some issues with drivers and Vista for USB-to-serial cables.

im thinking it should work, but i wanted to make sure by making this thread before i buy it
its exactly the same as the one on the modern site, accept for color and its longer
I say go for it. I think Radio Shack has a 14 day return policy. I did the same thing with Best Buy. Bought a cable, didn't work, so I took it back and got my money.

Kickass it worked! downloaded the update and ran to the car to hook it up!
installed the 93 tune and ZOMG!
pulled very very nice and A/F's were straightened out
i cant get any logs because i dont have my laptop(using a PC)
but i think i need to re-adjust my WGA because i was spiking 25-26 falling to 20 redline in 2nd and 3rd gear, and 4th-5th i was spiking 29!!!
af's were in the 11's in all gears never got past 11.6
and was kinda rich at the top of every gear...10.8-10.9

There should be a power supply you can buy from Radio Shack as well, so you can get the logs onto your PC. You'll definitely want logs! Glad the cable worked out for you...now just have fun and be careful, haha.

i was looking around the house and i found one that fits, it powers up and all, i opened the program to read the logs and nothing, sais i need to hook it up to the car...
I might be wrong, but I think you need to have it hooked up to the computer because it logs in real time. Also check that power adapter. Make sure the voltages are the same as what is required. It may power up, but if it is say 15V and requires only 12V it may burn it up eventually.

you can get and view logs straight from the handheld. you can't view tunes, or modify them without being hooked up to the obd2 in the car.

am i doing something wrong?
Yeah, you want to use the dataviewer program, not the data downloader (just to be clear). And before you can view/download a log, you need to make a log. To do that, you have to have the unit connected to your car while it's on. Go under diagnostics and from there, watch&record. After you're done, hit escape to stop the log file. Then go back and hook it up to your PC and pull the log. I just did it for the first time early this week and it was really easy.

i'll have to check that, thanks
