Default Newbie Questions Regarding DSP

Does the Srt4 provide a continual log of the performance status, regardless if there is a dtc thrown or not? And, if so, can that log be provided to the custom tuner for creating a custom flash?

I want to get a DSP.
My car's been modded: s2 wga, msd coil.

A couple questions about the DSP and RageTek's 'custom' tune.

Nowhere on here do I see mention of, if RageTek or whoever can create a custom tune
from the actual vehicle's status.

If two 'identically' stock srt4s left the factory in '05, there are still subtle differences
as I understand, in actual performance, not matter how slight.

I understand the DSP can make a backup of my existing flash (which should be stock, though I dont know if it includes any dealer flash upgrades).

So, is a custom tuner like RageTek, etc. able to provide a flash according to the actual vehicle?

How could/would that be done? Or, do they just provide a flash by comparing against a 'stock' flash, and ignore the subtle differences?

You have to send rage a copy of your original pcm backup, so in theory, it is vehicle specific.

Howdy,

With the DS Predator a tuner can provide you a custom tune tailored for your specific vehicle. However, it's going to require more than the sending of files via email. You're going to have to take your vehicle to a CMR dealer that has a dyno and the dealer-side components of the DS Predator. You can find a local CMR via this link DiabloSport :: Gas and Diesel Tuning Systems

The tunes talked about from Rage-Tek are typically canned tunes that may or may not have been further tweeked. A canned tune is a tune that was created from a vehicle that has a similar profile as the target vehicle. This profile might be completely stock, Stage 1 with AGP WG, Stage 3, big turbo with whatever. The point is that the closer the profile matches the target vehicle the more likely that the tune will work without much altering. But, no matter how similar the match, the tune will not be as tailored as one derived from a custom CMR supplied dealer with a dyno.

Why get a canned tune then? Cost and close enough. The common quoted cost for a canned tune is $80 where a custom tune via a CMR dealer will likely run $200 to $400. If your mod profile matches a canned tune profile than there is a reasonable chance that it will work well with your car and might only require end user adjustments ( a subset of adjustments available to a CMR dealer.)

If you have a highly modified vehicle than your best bet is to bite the bullet and go to a CMR dealer for a custom tune.

So, again, the quick answer to your question is "yes"; a specific tune for a specific vehicle can be created with the DS Predator but you will need a custom tune via a CMR dealer for that kind of tailoring.
