Default DSP And STP Gas Treatment???KNOCK....

I just put some stp gas treatment in my car today and later did a datalog from a 3rd gear pull and was getting like 4.5 of ST knock. I did some logs like a week ago and was not getting any knock so I don't know what might be going wrong. Anybody ever put stp in your car and then it knock like that?

Any fuel additive that is designed to clean the injectors is going to drop your octane some (not much), the big thing that it could effect is... it could have cleaned up some junk and caused the injector so spray a little funny. I would let a tank of fuel run is course and then with a fresh fill up try another WOT pass.

Hope this helps.

I would suspect that is it, if not just pull a little timing to clear things up.

Well, I ran two tanks of gas through it and still getting knock. The highest my timing goes to under WOT is only 21* and it has not knocked at that before, any idea's on what I can do? The car is running really good driving around just getting some knock under WOT and it's like 4.50 of ST.

Could they have changed over to winter blend already in your area? Have you checked for boost leaks lately? How many miles on the spark plugs?

I am sure that we can clear it up for you but you may have to pull a little bit of timing to clear up the fuel your currently running on.

Not really sure about the gas but I have the ngk 2 step colder plugs in with close to 10k miles on them. It's been about a month since I done a boost leak test on the car now. I did another datalog and 22* is the highest it hits not 21*.

This is really driving me freakin crazy. Every datalog I do it starts knocking at like 4,600rpm's all the way to like 6,100rpm's.

Do you have a custom tune on your car? Maybe you just need the KN sensitivity adjusted a bit. If you want to send me your current tune and your base tune we can check it out for you. Let me know, thanks.

I can feel it really good when it starts knocking also, so I don't know if it would need that or not but then again i'm no tuner. I'm going to replace the plugs and do a boost leak test to see if I have a leak and if I cant get it fixed I will let you know.
