Last night MASSSRT went to the store to get milk, and he said he got stuck at the light. The car wouldn't go into gear, he had to turn it off, put it in first, and then start it. When he started it, it jumped forward. Since the shifting has been notchy lately, he's been playing around with the clutch pedal and trying to adjust it to where the notchyness is the least. From the sounds of last night, something wasn't adjusted right. So he readjusted it today, all the way out this time, and it still won't go into gear. He put it in reverse and started the car and a sickening squeal/whine/something I can't describe came from the car, until he snatched it out of gear. Looks like I'm not going to AutoZone yet, after all.
Since he's already borrowing my knuckle, tie rod ends and axles, may as well borrow my TOB, fork and clutch, too. Just gonna be fun having to drop TWO trannys. If anyone has an extra TOB or fork, we've got gas money if you ain't got anything to do. It would be much appreciated. We'll even feed you if you're hungry!
We still aren't sure exactly what the problem is, but we'll have an answer shortly.

So far, we found one of the shifter cable bushings on top of the tranny had over 1/4" of play in it. Since I just put new shifter bushings on with the short throw INSIDE the car, we just swapped that out. It was going into gear better, but there's still a noise, so all that's left to do now is drop the tranny and see what is makin' that racket.
I called them this morning and explained the situation that we had: no car, no part, need car fixed, blah blah blah. Since the guys at AutoZone know who I am (really, how many chicks do you know who have a red SRT?) they hooked me up with a commercial delivery of a rear main seal and some brake clean.
So now it's getting installed, then just gotta put everything back together!
Not sure if you still need it, but I have a new TOB, TOB fork and pivot ball. But i'm planning on installing my clutch soon, so I would cash / replacements in a timely manner.

Much appreciated, dude! But it turns out that all of the above are actually in perfect working order, and it was just his clutch. Two of the springs had popped out... thank god it didn't explode! 60k miles and tons of track passes on slicks trapping 130.... I think the clutch held up rather well!

So we got her back together, picked up some tools and I grabbed the keys. Time for the moment of truth... SHE STARTS!
So I take her for a test drive while MASSSRT finished picking up the tools. The shifting was so smooth it was like being back in my car again (RIP Megatron - we miss you). Well, it is my clutch and my shifter so... Yeah. I take it for a rip up the pike, or at least I'm going to, and I find that there is a HUGE boost leak somewhere. At full throttle, I feel like a turtle. Turns out, he forgot to tighten the clamps at the bottom of the cold side pipe. tsk tsk. I rearranged everything and tightened it up, and on my way home so HE can test drive it now. Full throttle in third gear, wastegate opens and it still shifts like butter. Oh man, he's gonna love this.
As I'm getting off the pike, all of a sudden I hear a really funky noise that I don't like, so I pull over again. Passenger side tire is going flat, lol. Yet another salvage from my car yet to come. But that's not the noise. I called him and told him to stand in the driveway and listen to it as I pulled in. Turns out, it's the rear brake shoes (we think).
Can't things EVER be easy?? As I'm typing this up, he's finishing up putting the caliper and then the wheel on, and then he's going to test drive it FINALLY.
LOL. Thanks. We did two trannys, two clutches and everything that goes along with it (along with some extras we really didn't have to, for shits and giggles) with a bag of tools, no air powered anything, ONE jack and four jackstands in our driveway. Weeeeee. Oh, and a few blocks of wood to save his car from crashing into the pavement when it slipped off the jackstand.
